The orange Bertazzoni range is certainly the focal point of this kitchen, balanced by the warmth of the walnut end grain island countertop and honed marble countertops. A mix of transitional and modern elements, pendant lights bring a slightly industrial but ethereal feel to the room.
This young Nashville family wanted a kitchen that they could live and work in, so designers incorporated a huge kitchen island to suit the family's needs. The countertop is made from durable and easily cleaned honed black pearl granite. Designers customized the thickness of this countertop to be 2.5", adding even more substance and weight to the island. Designers also added durable teal vinyl counter stools to give the neutral kitchen a pop of color.
Wondering how to keep an all-white kitchen from looking bland and boring? Simple: Just layer in plenty of natural texture. In this cottage-style space, for example, Jeremy Power of Bella Custom Homes used the center island to add warmth and interest. “We built the island using reclaimed barn wood and topped it with a honed Carrara marble countertop,” he says. The “X” details on each end are a subtle nod to the home’s country roots.
A honed granite countertop provides functional seating at the kitchen island in this narrow kitchen. Painted faux-antiqued cabinetry brings a bit of rusticity to the overall refined and spacious feel. Repurposed bricks create a façade on the accent wall while over-scaled subway tile with dark grout is used above Calcutta marble countertops. Vintage industrial lights hang over the island adding drama and whimsy.
