To make this charming kitchen as functional as possible, interior designer Linda Woodrum opted for a triangle-style workspace. “When I think of smart design, I think of wisely designing a home that functions well on a high level, so that’s what Kelly Mockingbird, the design coordinator, and I tried to do through this whole process,” explains Linda. “It works well. Everything is in that small triangle, and it’s just very usable and functional.”
Throughout the home, recessed can lights illuminate the space. According to HGTV Smart Home 2015 house planner Jack Thomasson, “We have really great hip designer lighting around the house. We have somewhere between 42 and 45 can lights in the house. All of the decorative fixtures throughout the house use LED bulbs, including the candelabra bulbs above the dining table and all the lamps; so we have a complete LED story here.”
HGTV Dream Home 2015 is a breathtaking home in Martha’s Vineyard with charming architectural details and a classic Cape Cod look. “You pull up and think, ‘Oh my gosh. This is the best house ever,’” says the home’s interior designer Linda Woodrum. “That’s how I feel, and I would like to win this house!”
Open to the great room, the HGTV Smart Home 2014 kitchen is designed with bold cabinetry, clever storage and a wooden island. A brilliant blue and white color scheme keeps the eye entertained.
