The kids' bedroom of the HGTV Dream Home 2014 has a traditional yet preppy feel that extends to the adjoining bathroom. The space is decked out in bright red, black and white color scheme, bold patterns and durable kid-friendly fabrics.
This comfy master bedroom combines menswear-inspired fabrics with a leather headboard and bold, masculine accents to create a warm, inviting space. Lots of natural light and mountain views make this transitional bedroom, with rustic accents, a luxurious place to lounge.
The dining room of HGTV Smart Home 2013 has a coastal yet contemporary feel thanks to the balance of different elements like a bold-patterned rug, an ornate wrought iron chandelier, trestle-style dining table, and celadon-hued fabric upholstered chairs. Doors that lead to the back deck and pool make the room feel more open.
This multi-purpose "do room" in HGTV Green Home 2011 includes a casual-chic seating area with two slipper chairs, upholstered in classic houndstooth print. They sit atop a carpet-square rug and a Grecian key fabric throw pillows rests on each chair. A natural wood lamp with iron stud accents and linen shade provides additional light on overcast days. A barn door, constructed of beetle-kill pine wood, separates the room from the first floor.
Contemporary-style sofas, upholstered in durable Sunbrella fabric, feature aluminum frames and synthetic wicker bases — both recyclable. Two cube-shaped, industrial-style coffee tables were handcrafted from sustainable wood by carpenter David Brown. The yellow chairs provide a nice contrast against the black and white patterned pillows and add pops of color against the brick floor and accent landscaping wall.
The great room at the 2010 HGTV Dream Home features a bank of 12-foot-tall windows providing a stunning view of the surrounding desert landscape. Furnishings are toned down to keep focus on the glorious scenery, but interesting textures and prints, including houndstooth, Greek key and cow-hide, add interest in a space dominated by neutral fabrics and surfaces.
A hand-knotted rug, inspired by the design of old garden gates and damask prints, anchors the master bedroom's private sitting room and pairs well with the room's diverse collection of upholstery fabrics.
Fun and youthful, the kids bedroom at HGTV Smart Home 2013 celebrates life at the beach with tropical-print fabrics and a color palette drawn from the sea. Replace the skateboard on the wall with traditional artwork and dress the cottage-style twin poster beds in classic fabrics, and the space becomes ideal for adult guests.
In the master bedroom at the 2011 edition of the HGTV Dream Home, black furnishings and menswear fabrics pop against walls painted in a vibrant cranberry shade. The "Doggie Dream Home," a miniature replica of the actual HGTV Dream Home constructed by carpenter David Brown, features space for two small dogs.
Though the open, two-story dining room in HGTV Dream Home 2015 is breathtaking, that openness can sometimes negatively affect the room’s acoustics. Luckily, interior designer Linda Woodrum knew just how to alleviate that issue. “When you have a tremendous amount of volume, you’re looking for ways to help with acoustics,” explains Linda. “So the more fabric you get in the room, the more you help with acoustics.”
This living room introduces a bit of flair to its otherwise contemporary space by using Southwestern fabrics for pillows and art. The yellow walls provide a soft background for the stronger colors of the furniture and and the accessories' busier prints.
