Bright blooms blanket ‘Kramer’s Red’ winter heath from winter into early spring. Plants have needle-like, evergreen leaves and grow to 12 inches tall and 36 inches wide. Use heath as a groundcover, or pair it with conifers for an eye-catching contrast. Heath grows in rocky soil and is low maintenance once established. Hardy in Zones 6-8.
African violets are considered miniatures if they are 6" to 8" or less in diameter, and large if they're over 16" in diameter. Semi-minis are 6" to 8", while standards are 8" to 16". Trailing types have long runners that branch and spread; they can grow in hanging baskets or shallow pots. 'Persian Prince’ (S. Sorano, hybridizer), is a miniature with so-called girl, or scalloped, leaves. Girl leaves are usually fleshier than boy leaves, which are solid green.
This neutral living room features two gray sofas with a mixture of gray pillows in various tones. Pops of yellow — as seen in the table lamp — add a bit of color to the space, while a reclaimed wood coffee table and woven area rug add an earthy touch.
In the kitchen, tractor seat barstools welcome guests to perch next to the new waterfall countertop, paneled in solid walnut. For the Heath tile backsplash, the designer created visual interest by installing in a herringbone pattern. The gray tile stands out against the white cabinetry and adds depth to the design.
Gray subway tile starts at the top of the shower and continues down across the floor in this modern bathroom. A glass panel stands beside the rain shower head separating the bathing area from the wooden floating vanity.
This elegant yet inviting master bedroom is a treat for restful eyes, as designer Heather McManus dips her brush in tones of gold. The soft-hued area rug, ornate draperies and upholstered furnishings polish the more simple designs of the sleigh bed and nightstand. The star attraction of the space, however, is the softly painted border of the tray ceiling, in a French design, that gives the room depth and drama.
By creating different levels of patio space, Scenic Landscaping was able to create an upper dining area with a kitchen overlooking the pool. The custom kitchen was built to fit the smaller raised patio space. Using bright appliances and stonework helped it to blend seamlessly into its surroundings.
Due to the decline in the property, the front walkways and landscape had to be designed and built to help transition the grade. Curb appeal from the road is created with a professionally maintained front lawn.
On the lower patio, an outdoor kitchen and dining area was crated as an extension of the outdoor kitchen space. The styles and colors were chosen to complement the neutral, contemporary color palette of the home in order to create a cohesive design throughout the home's spaces.
The backyard showcases a beautiful modern swimming pool, with an infinity edge and spillway, stairs leading up to a higher patio seating area and an adjacent cabana space. To match the color palette and tone of the rest of the home, natural hues were used with variations of grays. The infinity edge pool gives a modern design, a palm tree was shipped in from Miami to give a tropical summer feel while flowerbeds were layered with tons of texture and color to complement the outdoor space.
The backyard of this newly built home includes the perfect outdoor living space. Complete with multiple patio levels, an infinity edge pool with spillway, a cabana, tiered planting beds and retaining walls and a meticulously maintained lawn area, this space is elegant and functional for the whole family.
Natural daylight shows the true colors of the plaster and stones used in this pool design. Scenic Landscaping chose brighter decking materials, tiles and stones to make the outside feel resort-like and bright and bold.
