This mirrored nightstand echoes the opulent finishes used throughout this bedroom designed by Erinn Valencich. Note her clever lighting trick: "I decided to hang pendant lights over each nightstand instead of using standard lamps," she says. This leaves the table surface free for other items. Storage is also available inside the table behind the touch-latch doors.
This spacious, country style kitchen doubles as a casual office space with a built-in, wood desk that sits in front of stunning bay windows. A metal pot rack hangs over a marble-topped kitchen island creating a lovely focal point while also adding storage space. Bright white cabinets with black hardware complement the black and white, plaid striped walls nicely.
White cabinetry and gray walls blend to create an open, airy kitchen that's welcoming and light-filled. Industrial-style pendants hang above a large island that offers extra storage. White quartz countertops are sleek and functional. This kitchen renovation stole space from an oversized powder room, resulting in a bright, airy and contemporary space that opens to the dining room and family room beyond.
A large, decorative backsplash covers the wall space beside the side by side ovens and stainless steel range hood. The tile pattern blends with black and white kitchen island with the room. Built in white cabinets circle the room creating ample storage to keep the counter space clear. A unique silver fixture hangs above the island and shines in the light of the room.
You would never know that this fabulous walk-in closet was created from an outdoor storage room. An exterior door and window were closed and removed to allow space for custom built-in shelving, providing ample room for clothing, shoes and jewelry. The light from the sparkling hanging fixture bounces off a shimmery petal pink ceiling, while glass shoe shelves mounted in front of pink damask wallpaper provide a beautiful focal point. The custom-designed full-length mirror and the sconces flanking it stand out in front of the horizontal striped wallpaper. Nicole Norris, ASID, NCIDQ, is responsible for the dressing room design in this North Carolina home.
Even in our homes, corners are generally considered dead space, but in closets they can be utilized in a surprising way to free up space for additional shelves and compartments. Lisa Adams, CEO and designer of LA Closet Design, suggests incorporating a corner carousel into your closet design to really utilize a corner that would otherwise go unused. "The carousel rotates 360 degrees and allows for hanging all the way around. Rather than voiding out the corner or doing an awkward reach-in cabinet, a corner carousel is a great solution for capitalizing on storage space," Lisa says. Photo courtesy of LA Closet Design.
Pendant lights hang down over an island with bar seating in this country kitchen. Glass door cabinets and provide dish storage around a patterned tile wall above the metallic stove. A strip of subway tile follows the white countertop around the walls of the kitchen. Wooden bar stools, gray herringbone flooring, and a black window frame above the sink add a few contrasting colors to the white decor.
For the master bathroom of a 1870s row house in Brooklyn, NY, designer Lorraine Bonaventura designed a vanity in keeping with the home’s historic style. A vintage mirror hangs above the white-painted vanity, which Bonaventura fitted with polished nickel fixtures. “Five deep drawers provide enough storage for all the toiletries,” she says. “The four seagrass baskets hold towels.”
Neutral tones and architectural details create a relaxing environment in this master bathroom, from the crown molding and archway trim to the marble flooring. The double vanity provides lots of storage with traditional-style cabinets beneath and a corner mounted TV above. Sheer window treatments hang above a long soaking tub beside the vanity with a sun-inspired pendant light above. Steps from the tub is a large walk-in closet with white organizer drawers.
Not one inch is wasted in this tiny home designed by Incredible Tiny Homes. The coat closet was thoughtfully designed for hanging front to back therefore requiring very little of the entry’s space; paired with the storage trunk below, the two components allow the entry to function like a mudroom. The pale blue barn door is a great rustic detail that provides privacy for the bathroom without obstructing any space. Dual in its purpose, the bathroom doubles as the laundry room. The combination of the hardwood floors and natural materials create an immediate sense of warmth upon entering the tiny home.
This dressing room and the bath beyond are connected by a dramatic vestibule capped with a barrel-vaulted Venetian plaster ceiling. Watercolors from the 1930s of Adrian costume designs hang above the wrought-iron demilune French console table. The zebra ottoman adds a graphic accent. The bath is anchored by an ample enameled Waterworks soaking tub. Note the tall cherry column on the side, which rotates to reveal hidden storage.
No luxury closet would be complete without a makeup table, and this beautiful contemporary dressing room is no exception. The mirrored surface of the table adds to the elegance of the space, while small chandeliers hang on either side of the dresser to light the work station. Mirrored drawers sit atop the makeup table to provide storage for the homeowner's beauty necessities, and the luxurious chair placed at the desk allows this homeowner to get ready in style.
As seen on HGTV's Love It or List It Too, designer Jillian Harris created a more open space by ripping out the wall that divided the kitchen and living space and putting in a large island with white quartz countertops and lots of new storage. The previous countertops were so outdated, their width did not accommodate a dishwasher. The hardware and lighting was replaced, Edison lights hang above the island, hardwood floors were put down.
Rollins' pool house is a great hangout for fairer skinned visitors who want to hang out there but still be in on the poolside action. "If you're pale, you can still be a part of it," she says. The retro lattice motif as well as the navy and white color scheme integrate the pool house with the rest of the garden. There's a bathroom, a storage closet and a wet bar though Rollins prefers to bring coolers outside for parties rather than bother with the maintenance hassle of an outdoor fridge.
Fixer Upper hosts Chip and Joanna Gaines transformed a depressing room into a bright and festive nursery for the Purks' baby on the way. The old French Doors were removed to create a solid wall for a crib or bed placed against. The old wall paneling was removed and replaced with light blue painted drywall with white trim. Soft carpeting will be perfect for a child's room and metal crates hang on the wall and serve as storage for stuffed animals. A comfortable side chair is an inviting place to sit with the baby, and a crystal chandelier was removed from the original dining room and installed here in the nursery.

The owner of this home wanted an elegant, functional space for her closet, so she decided to enclose an underused second floor patio. To make this dressing room the perfect space, floor to ceiling built-in wardrobes were added with lighted drawers for easy access. The shoes get their own sliding storage so that each pair is neatly laid out and easily accessible. The chandelier in the center of the room is elegant and stylish and hangs over a jewelry tower, complete with lighted drawers for ease of access. The space has banquette seating so that the homeowner and her friends can gab and get ready all at the same time, while the black and white Roman shades provide stylish privacy for the space.
This family of five got the contemporary kitchen masterpiece they were looking for. The blond oak floors and the dark cabinets compliment each other and give the clean lines of the contemporary style the family was looking for. The white Thassos countertops that were installed continue the trend of stylish, sleek lines, while also being durable enough to handle the daily preparation of large meals. The stainless steel appliances add a sophisticated look to the space, but because they are Viking appliances, they give the family the state of the art technology and luxury they were in the market for. To complete this sleek, elegant space, the family added contemporary crystal light fixtures to hang above the extra large kitchen island and the wine storage in the corner of the kitchen to give their space the touch of luxury the family dreamed of.
