An unused area in the yard was used to create a large raised bed garden. The grass in the area wasn't growing properly due to poor soil; but it received sun all day. Varying heights were used to accommodate root systems of different kind of plants, and to create visual interest.
A unique wood and metal sideboard stores drinks and serves the dining space of this colorful and eclectic courtyard. A wood structure that surrounds the space is lined with metal mesh that filters light and screens the outdoor room from surrounding houses. Lush plantings bring the courtyard to life.
When the concrete has cured, add about 3” of gravel or other drainage material. Add potting soil to fill the planter, lightly packing it down. Finally, add plants to fill the planter and water as needed.
The Mediterranean-inspired outdoor space combines multiple areas seamlessly, from the raised garden beds and hot tub to the outdoor dining room. Lush flower beds line the backyard, while potted plants and flowers add life and color around the space.
A decorative cinder block wall is adorned with hanging plants in a nod to indoor-outdoor eating. One-of-a-kind handmade ceramic chandeliers hang above the sitting area adding to the "living-room" feel of Broken Spanish.
