This master bedroom was painted a soothing blue and features a variety of neutral accents, including the metallic curtains that are suspended around the bed to add an element of privacy. A starburst mirror is positioned above the bed, while a modern chandelier with four lights hangs at the center of the room.
Turquoise birds and light, fluffy clouds decorate the ceiling of this charming girl's bedroom. The rich turquoise-colored area rug pulls the color of the birds into the room. A pair of twin beds are a mirror image with matching throw pillows and white linens. Watercolor art hangs on the wall to break up the solid white walls.
A grand curved chandelier is the centerpiece of this ultra-contemporary space where dressing room meets bathroom. The light fixture hangs over a modern gray piece that's a dresser on one side and a vanity sink on the other. Sliding mirrored doors open to reveal a spacious walk-in closet.
A hand-painted black and white floor adds an unexpected, edgy feel to contrast the elegant, detailed gold molding on the ceiling. Streamlined white and gold chairs and a tufted gray sofa are situated around a sleek, reflective black coffee table. A traditional gold mirror hangs above a marble fireplace for added contrast to the contemporary sitting area.
As a designer, Tanika knows the value of a good entryway, both as a functional part of daily living and as a design feature, setting the tone for everything to come. She makes excellent use of her space on both fronts with a dark-stained wooden bench adorned with colorful pillows in dazzling geometric patterns. Complemented by the modern, artistic mirror hanging above, the bench is the perfect place to sit while putting on shoes or to pause for a moment after a long day, with an underside that doubles as storage for shoes.
A silver, white and cream color palette lends a glamorous yet soothing look to the hall bathroom of HGTV Green Home 2011, which features quartz countertops and a silver-leafed mirror. A shower curtain, custom-made for the space, hangs from the top of the wall to showcase the floor-to-ceiling bathtub surround and emphasize the 9-foot ceiling.
A hand-carved solid birch mirror in a black finish hangs above an ebony hand-rubbed buffet table, drawing the eye up to visually heighten this neutral dining room. A modern polished nickel chandelier illuminates the crisp, clean table settings in the neutral space. White dinnerware complements the white wainscoting and tray ceiling, while clear glass vases hold fresh hydrangea bloom centerpieces.
An icy blue four-drawer dresser is used to display a small purple floral bouquet inside a brown pot, a stuffed monkey and a handful of Dr. Seuss books, while above hangs a large white mirror in which you can see the reflection of a blue and purple plaid valance. The color schemes compliment the purple hue of the room walls.
The sitting area clearly demonstrates the color story for the porch: white and neutral base pieces with bright accents. The sectional sofa, wood coffee table and baroque wall mirror bring unexpected indoor sophistication to outdoor living. The pink, red and purple throw pillows pop against the stark white sofa. A geometric light fixture hangs above to provide lighting.
For the master bathroom of a 1870s row house in Brooklyn, NY, designer Lorraine Bonaventura designed a vanity in keeping with the home’s historic style. A vintage mirror hangs above the white-painted vanity, which Bonaventura fitted with polished nickel fixtures. “Five deep drawers provide enough storage for all the toiletries,” she says. “The four seagrass baskets hold towels.”
This mirrored nightstand echoes the opulent finishes used throughout this bedroom designed by Erinn Valencich. Note her clever lighting trick: "I decided to hang pendant lights over each nightstand instead of using standard lamps," she says. This leaves the table surface free for other items. Storage is also available inside the table behind the touch-latch doors.
A central structure composed of natural wood divides this rustic-yet-luxurious master retreat, creating storage as well as wall space to accommodate a dual vanity and, on the other side, a bed. Mirrors with contemporary side lights hang above two sinks and a vanity. Pale finishes, like the white countertop and white beamed ceiling, give the space an airy, ethereal feel.
Designer Amy Elbaum carefully selected accent furnishings for this living room renovation with an eye on simple lines and quiet sophistication. The beautiful round mirror that hangs above a simple marble console table makes a strong statement, yet both pieces blend effortlessly together for a unified look. The touch of blue in the glass lamps is another graceful expression here.
A 9' window allows light to stream into this mostly white bathroom, flooding it with natural light. Roman shades give the option of blocking the light and adding privacy, when needed, and also add a textural element. A robust and roomy double vanity blends seamlessly into the white walls and metallic pendant lighting hangs above it. A simple mirror and minimalist vases add the finishing touches to this transitional bathroom.
In this urban living room, neutral colors and rich textures are used to create a space that is fresh and hip. Custom hand-blown pendants hang above the bar to add a splash of color. A wall-mounted mirror expands the feeling of the space while a silver-and-white wall graphic runs from the kitchen out onto the balcony, featuring a downtown skyline.
You would never know that this fabulous walk-in closet was created from an outdoor storage room. An exterior door and window were closed and removed to allow space for custom built-in shelving, providing ample room for clothing, shoes and jewelry. The light from the sparkling hanging fixture bounces off a shimmery petal pink ceiling, while glass shoe shelves mounted in front of pink damask wallpaper provide a beautiful focal point. The custom-designed full-length mirror and the sconces flanking it stand out in front of the horizontal striped wallpaper. Nicole Norris, ASID, NCIDQ, is responsible for the dressing room design in this North Carolina home.
Fixer Upper hosts Chip and Joanna Gaines completely transformed the bathroom by removing all of the old and tile and wall panels. The walls were painted light yellow with white beaded board wainscoting. Two ornate wooden mirrors hang above his and her's vessel sinks installed on top of an old painted dresser. New tile floors in a traditional pattern adds to the character of the room and a subway tile bathtub and shower were installed.
Complete your small space by mixing patterns. In this bedroom, Ikat print curtains pair well with a tribal influenced mirror that hangs above the bed. Use throw pillows to your advantage, and add visual interest by mixing similarly colored pillows that have interesting patterns. The chevron pillows here are set off by a nostalgic, knitted throw in the middle. Unify the space by matching a muted blue wall color with quilted bed linens to add texture, but keep the pops of color from overpowering the room.
