The sparkling, contemporary chandelier is a gorgeous highlight in the HGTV Smart Home 2015 master bedroom. According to the house planner, Jack Thomasson, “There was a very deliberate orientation of that fixture, so that at night time when the light is on and you’re on the street, it’s like this perfect framing of the fixture from the front of the house. We spent a lot of time working on getting it the right distance from the ceiling to see it from the street, and it looks really cool.”
Heading upstairs, the dramatic custom iron railing and mirrored lighting — spanning three flghts — is on full display here, illuminated by ironclad skylights. Kay likens the combined effect to creating a magical space.
Unique and ethnic style patterns along with a large, hanging light fixture combine to create this eclectic bathroom. A simple neutral and silver sink with matching mirror allow the more interesting pieces to shine.
A sense of intimacy is captured in this dining room by the addition of a hanging fixture that brings the light low from the high ceiling. The modern lines of the table and chairs are complemented by the more traditional ceiling medallion and fireplace surround. For a touch of fun, the designer added a painted, faux deer mount above the fireplace.
