In this distinct kitchen design by Susan Serra, the brushed metal table and glass countertops are counterbalanced by the warmth of wood cabinets, hardwood floors and distinct color accents. The gorgeous hand-blown cobalt blue pendants, with natural imperfections, are scene stealers and add artisan appeal to a contemporary setting. "Natural materials in lighting fixtures such as reclaimed wood and distressed metals also add that authentic element we crave," says Serra. "Imperfections are desired and coveted...in context, of course!"
Custom blown glass pendants balance the raw character of the live-edge dining table. Two-toned teal dining chars add a splash of color to the otherwise neutral dining room. White wainscoting echoes the geometric pattern of the second-floor railing.

Textured stainless steel mosaic tile on the bar and backsplash creates a dynamic contrast within this contemporary European kitchen and emphasizes the sleek finishes in the space. A cascade of hand blown glass lighting really fills up the tall vertical space and looks magical in the evening. The glass ball on the newel post was outfitted with an LED light and comes on each night when it gets dark.
This stair design is appropriately scaled to the space and makes excellent use of the natural light.
Hand-blown terrariums are organic and sculptural, says Jeffrey Schneider of Jeffrey Terrariums, based in New York. The bean-shaped terrarium he created holds Selaginella emmeliana, maidenhair fern (Adiantum capillus-veneris) and perennials such as Peperomia urocarpa. He used Yamaya Stone for the base and placed sterilized twigs into the display.
This winding staircase wraps around an ornate hand-blown glass chandelier before reaching a glass floor, which covers an indoor pond. LED lights illuminate the space with a soft blue glow for an underwater feel.
Three components of modern terrariums are simplicity, scale and minimalism, says Jeffrey Schneider of Jeffrey Terrariums, who creates terrariums of hand-blown glass. In this woodland-themed terrarium, he used pincushion moss (Leucobryum albidum), Rabbit's foot fern (Phlebodium aureum), reindeer moss (Cladonia rangiferina), Selaginella kraussiana, and succulents such as Peperomia prostrata. Acorns, twigs and leaves are sterilized to prevent pests and diseases.
