The chic kitchen blends seamlessly into the casita's living area furnished with Eames armchairs and ottomans and a patterned hair-on-hide rug. Along the wall, floating shelves are used to create a space-saving office space.
This Southwestern-style bar showcases hair-on-hide panels as wallcovering and floating glass shelves suspended by threaded rebar rods with bolts to support the glass. The cowhides are arranged diagonally to create additional visual interest where they meet in the middle of the wall.
This midcentury modern living room features a fireplace original to the home, walnut veneer paneling and walnut flooring. Vintage pieces, such as the white armchair and starburst mirror, are mixed in with more modern finds like the ivory faux shagreen side table, hair on hide rug and gold accent tables.
A hair-on-hide rug in a chevron stripe and a silvery resin coffee table are two of the elements that take this living room in a decidedly glamorous direction. Warm wood paneling extends across the room into the dining area and kitchen, unifying and warming up the open concept spaces.
In this dining area, the wood-and-metal, 10-foot table comfortably seats eight. Underneath the table, a hair-on-hide rug is a geometric zip of color and pattern. The space flows easily into the kitchen on one side and out to a covered patio and grill on the other, ideal for entertaining. When transforming a spare bedroom into a glamorous dressing room, designer Nicole Norris, ASID, NCIDQ, turned the double-door reach-in closet into a custom-designed shoe display alcove with 1/2" thick glass shelves. Luxurious patterned carpeting, gold shimmering wallpaper and neutral furnishings balance out the bright pink shelving. Details such as a gilded tri-fold mirror and a creamy hair-on-hide chair add a touch of glamour to the space. Since the room was so large, several ready-made furniture pieces were added in addition to the custom shelving.
If you can't keep the pets off the furniture, opt for durable and neutral upholstery that hides pet hair. Here, a golden retriever enjoys a nap on the London sofa from R. Jones. An orange and green quilt adds a touch of country charm to the farmhouse living room.
