In the upstairs living area, David and Kortney used a soft blue wall color to make the space feel colorful and inviting, as well as make it feel separate from the first floor's living spaces. To help the two separate designs mesh, Kortney brought in green accents, keeping the home's individual spaces complimentary to each other.
Neutral carpet and walls set a soothing backdrop for the funky mix of colors in this eclectic space. A tufted blue chair features a watercolor fabric look mixing light and dark shades of blue. A mauve velvet sofa is finished with coastal pillows showcasing shades of green. A chunky metallic table and a thin, wispier table complete the look with metallic accents.
Who said formal needs to be boring? Add vibrant color to a formal dining space to create a relaxing, fun vibe. Shades of blue are divided by a white chair rail that unite the wall and curtains. The plush, blue tufted sofa becomes the focal point, accented with multi-colored throw pillows. The green palm tree leaves add natural dimension and color.
Deep, moody green interiors are taking the design world by storm, and bathrooms are no exception. Consider a hue like hunter, olive, forest, jade or emerald for the walls, and balance its intensity with a light, natural wood vanity and jute accents. Matte black fixtures and ceramics complete this look. The trendy palette works well with rustic, modern farmhouse and Southwestern design styles.
Neutral tile floors and beige walls are awakened by the brilliant color accents in this foyer. Built-in fish tanks sit on either side of the black door, bringing life to the space. Vibrant green and blue mosaic tile columns are a bright pop in the open area, and a hanging glass panel displays colorful glass art for a stunning finishing touch.
Clean, white wall space gives a fresh and airy look to this contemporary kitchen. Angled gold rods fixed around the pendant lights creates decoration above the stylish place settings displayed on the white island countertop. A gray tile backsplash meshes the silver of the stainless steel appliances with the white. A large watercolor and green apples displayed in a glass jar add colorful accents to the space.
This cozy cottage living room makes use of bold colored fabrics to bring the cottage feel alive. The neutral colored walls make the space feel cozy and casual, while the vibrant red of the couch brings warmth to the room. The light green of the throw pillow and the lamp accent the boldness of the couch, while fresh hydrangeas complete the cozy cottage style.
The design for this little girl's room is light and bright with plenty of feminine touches. The mint green of the walls is a light, subtle color, while the light from the large window helps to accent it and make the space lighter. The bedspread brings a nice feminine touch to the space with the floral pattern, and the furniture compliments that design.
Warm wood tones, muted gray-greens and charcoal exemplify the casual, comfortable vibe of this pub-inspired dining room. The custom bar includes four pro-quality taps, white subway tile backsplash and a custom shelf with under-lighting that illuminate bottles or decorative items. A chalkboard accent wall is the perfect spot for homeowners to add a personal touch, while stamped-tin ceiling tiles bring historic character to the space.
To give the open space just off the entry a purpose, yet keep the center of the area open for traffic flow in and out of this apartment, two pairs of ready-made bookshelves purchased from an office supply store were placed back-to-back to act as room dividers. On one side, a private office is separated from the formal dining space and family room on the other side. The apartment's walls were painted peacock blue, which helps the walls recede so that accents of white and apple green stand out.
In this girl's room, designers used bright colors and fun prints to bring life to the space. The walls are painted a turquoise color that makes the space feel bright, while bold, green accents create contrast. To complete the space, a funky, geometric art piece is hung next to the bed, and mirrored nightstands reflect the furry white rug, making the space feel brighter and more open, creating the perfect girly oasis.
The main house of the building, sitting directly in the middle of the guest rooms, is a communal space where guests come to check in, eat and relax outside of their rooms. Just in through the front door, the space begins with this beautiful dining room. The forest-feel comes immediately through in this space with its color palette of warm browns and greens. The extendable table, which seats as many as 10 guests, is flanked by the hidden star of the show: an exquisite black armoire that accents the deep green of the wall, while the grain of the wood adds pattern and texture to the room.
A powder room is another name for a small bathroom space with a suitable vanity, bathroom sink and mirror. It is a high traffic area where you can add a lot of style and leave your guests with a great first impression. A soft blue-green vanity, marble countertop and geometric tile accent wall, clearly states your design choices are unique and playful. If you want to try something new, you can try mixing two styles and make your own unique bathroom.
This library space was once a sea of wall-to-wall green with gold accents and cluttered bookshelves. Now, the space is elegant and calming. The home's original molding and wainscoting has been restored and highlighted in this sleek, new design, and the bookcases have been cleaned up and stocked with myriad books. The luscious, overstuffed furniture gives the family a great place to relax and read, but this space has also been equipped with some tech savvy gadgets, such as a projector with a retractable screen, so that the family can watch their favorite soccer matches in style.
The more casual family room is full of bright colors and interesting pieces that show off this family's personality. Teal walls make the space bright and fun, while red and green accents make the color palette pop. Patterned curtains and ottoman use the room's primary colors to add some textures in a unique way, while funky pieces, such as the privacy screen at the rear of the space and the unique chandelier add a little drama. To tie this space to the style of the rest of the home, exposed beams were added to elegantly bring the space together.
To create more light in the space, the Good Bones team, Karen E. Laine and Mina Starsiak, added two new windows in the reclaimed wood accent wall. This not only gives the space a focal point, but also allows more natural light into the space, making it feel bright and open. To add to the elegant, industrial design the team was going for, they added black and white artwork, a metal headboard, brown bed linens and dark end tables and lamp shades. To tie the space together and give it a pop of color, a green shag carpet adds comfort to this elegant, industrial master bedroom.
