The home's original door, with unique crescent-moon window, was retained but given a new finish with a pleasing gold stain that permits the wood grain to show. Charcoal gray trim and new custom metal railing offer tastefully subtle touches that make the house stand out.
Fixer Upper hosts Chip and Joanna Gaines opened the porch back up, bringing back a more classic and elegant look to the exterior. Though they opted to keep the original brick and not paint the exterior, new stucco and contrasting gray trim highlight the home's traditional Tudor style.
To create the open concept home the homeowners hoped for, Chip and Joanna, of HGTV's Fixer Upper, removed several walls to open the space up, creating a clear line of sight from the kitchen to the dining room. To connect the spaces, Joanna chose gray trim and molding to run throughout, creating an industrial feel for the spaces.
Jenelle Isaacson of Living Room Realty played up the architectural details of this home's trim by playing down the body color of the home. She found the perfect dark gray for the base that worked with the indirect light of the Oregon skies. Next, she painted the door details, columns and porch ceilings a simple white, really making them pop.
Upholstered headboards are a fabulous way to add texture and depth to a bedroom. Designer Emily Henderson encourages readers to try this easy, do-it-yourself project. "The headboard is made simply by wrapping batting and then fabric around a large inexpensive piece of plywood and using a staple gun to attach it," says Henderson.
This gorgeous dining room has dark eggshell walls, rich gray trim, flowing lace curtains and a bold gilded mirror. A crystal chandelier glistens above a table set with with traditional flatware and mismatched chairs.
