To create a master suite that’s clean and classic, remodeling expert Darron O’Bonnon and interior designer Brian Patrick Flynn both agreed on a tranquil shade of blue-gray for the walls, trim and ceiling. For masculine appeal, Flynn outfitted the room with a mix of rustic, primitive and midcentury modern touches.
This spacious outdoor sitting area features two brown wicker sofas paired with tan outdoor cushions and gray striped pillows. This elegant dining room draws its visual interest from striking contrast and luxurious textures. The upper doors of the cabinets bordering the buffet have been removed and the interior painted dark gray, a rich contrast to the crisp white elsewhere in the room. White marble covers the buffet backsplash and a crystal chandelier twinkles overhead.
Sophisticated and serene, the master bathroom shines with chrome hardware, a latte color scheme and high-tech features. White quartz countertops on his-and-hers vanities complement the gray finish of the cabinetry. Double mirrors are custom-designed to match the vanities. "I love gray — I think I always will," says interior designer Lexi Westergard. "However, I am definitely using it differently than I have in the past. I still love it for bathroom cabinet colors, pillows, rugs and accents. I am loving more of a greige or white for wall colors. I think this year we will see white as the dominant, go-to neutral color for walls."
If bright white walls are a bit out of your comfort zone, try a warm gray tone that’s light enough to almost look white, like Lexi did in this living room. She chose Benjamin Moore’s Classic Gray, one of her favorite paint colors.
