This stylish boy's bedroom uses bold punches of turquoise in the benches, nightstand and ottomans to complement the gray color palette. Colorful wall art behind the beds infuses the room with more color, and a plush window seat with an array of throw pillows creates a cozy spot for the boys to relax. A black and white striped rug grounds the space and adds lovely contrast to the bright accent colors.
By using neutral colors for walls and fixtures, bathrooms can change colors with their towel and accessory choices. The bright orange here, however, is stupendous against the gray-green and white wall tile and mosaic tile flooring by Ann Sacks. The bathroom by Kathy Geissler Best of KGB Interior Design is designed as a user-friendly bath with access to both the home's pool and main house. As seen on season 1 of Sarah Sees Potential, Sarah tied in the blue and green tones of her client's favorite color, turquoise, in the living room's decor. Bright green cymbidium orchids are a bright contrast against the striped turquoise wallpaper of the fireplace surround. Sarah also added gray and dark blue flower vases and white photo frames to balance the wallpaper's bright, saturated hue.
Opt for hide rugs in high-traffic areas, like foyers and hallways, because they can stand up to the hustle and bustle. “I love to use hide rugs in foyers and hallways. Since hides are natural animal skin, the material is incredibly durable and cleanable. Hides can be made into rugs in a variety of patterns that include checked, striped, chevron and even circular patterns. This striped hide rug was an ideal choice for this large, central hallway. We custom made it to size and only included white and gray colors which gives the rug some variety, but still allows it to have a neutral and soft effect, says Claire Paquin of Clean Design Partners.
Patterns are harmoniously woven together to create a colorful master bedroom design. The key to adding different patterns to a room is to choose different prints and colors. A striped nightstand contrasts with the interlocking scroll design on the yellow wallpaper and ties the pink of the ottoman with the pink tweed pillows. A soft, pattern in the gray-and-white window treatments parallel the colors of the bedding and acts as a backdrop for the pale, blue armchair.
This neutral living space has plenty of seating for the homeowners to entertain family and friends. Reminiscent of a Romantic Era parlor, a grand piano occupies the rear corner of the room, creating an elegant ambiance, while large chaise lounges and comfortable modern chairs add seating for guests and homeowners alike. Finally, accents like the white and gray striped rug and the Asian inspired decor helps to finish the room and bring the design full circle.
To create this nursery, designers first painted the walls a pewter gray color; then, they added birch tree and owl decals to make the space fun and decorative. Once the walls were painted, designers brought in an IKEA dresser and added hand-crafted owl drawer pulls to tie the dresser in to the design of the space. They also added a multicolor rug, a white crib and a modern rocking chair to complete the space.
To create the unique sense of calm needed for someone who spends most of their time on the road, the designers crafted her living room using a neutral color palette — with a twist. Here, significant pops of pale pink stand out against the white walls while complementing the gray sofa. An unabashed fan of color, Nikia’s isn’t shy about pointing our her favorite pieces. “Hands down the pink accent chairs,” she offers. “They are gorgeous.”
These Rudolph-inspired cake pops are sure to delight your little guests. To make, form balls of any baked cake mixture with your hands and chill for about 1 hour, then insert a lollipop stick into each ball and dip in melted chocolate. Chill until set, then decorate with marshmallows, cherries and pretzels. To finish off, insert a striped straw into each stick and decorate with a piece of ribbon. Display them upright in a white container filled with a block of floral foam. Top the container with fake snow and a printable candy jar label.
