David Austin's 'Snow Goose' is a repeat-flowering rambler rose that blooms abundantly, is very healthy and reliable and relatively thornless -- qualities that make it particularly useful as a climber or tall shrub. It has a delicious sweet musk fragrance. The white double flowers are reminiscent of pom poms, with daisy-like narrow petals neatly arranged around yellow stamens. It grows 8 to10 ft high, bearing large sprays of the small to medium sized flowers. The stems are easy to train over an arch or across a wall, fence or trellis. (David Austin 1996, Auspom). Note: in the foreground is the white-flowered English Rose 'Susan Williams-Ellis'.
This nursery features style more sophisticated than many grown-up bedrooms. Simple gray walls provide a basic backdrop for interesting art and fun details like the goose lamp. A Southwest-style throw brings in rich pinks and orange.
Place the bird on a wire tray over a roasting pan, remove any excess fat from inside the cavity of the goose and season it inside and out with salt and pepper. Alternatively, put a couple of fresh sprigs of thyme and rosemary and a whole bulb of garlic into the cavity, along with half a cup of water. Prick the fat gland under the wings of the goose and around the back by the "parson's nose." If the legs are still attached, rub them with a little butter or cooking oil and cover them with aluminum foil to prevent them from burning. Preheat the oven and calculate the cooking time according to the weight of the bird.

Even though goose or duck down will cost more than a synthetic-filled comforter, down has great insulating properties with natural resilience. If you need a hypoallergenic version, Crowell suggest looking for a quality version that clusters like down without clumping or matting.
Building a wall on one side of the outdoor dining area gives the deck the feeling of a finished room complete with goose neck lamps that complement the red dining chairs. The opposite side of the deck includes a row of planters to create a subtle wall of plants dividing the space from the rest of the yard.
