A bracket portico designed by Atlanta Decking and Fence, and a vintage-looking light fixture add rustic Craftsman charm to this bungalow's curb appeal throughout the year. Hunter green paint is used for the shutters and portico. The homeowners decorated with small trees in containers holding red and gold ornaments and a festive ball wreath.
Wood fixtures and red walls create a warm and rich atmosphere perfect for formal dining. An oval wood dining table is surrounded with wood dining chairs with seat cushions upholstered with a red and gold diamond pattern. A large bay window brings in natural light to even out the heavy, rich design.
During the renovation of this home, Design Platform shifted the entryway, raised its ceiling height and installed an opaque glass front door with skylights as a dramatic introduction to its modernity, style and simplicity. The lone vase with greenery, rustic artwork, fur-lined upholstery and gold light fixture are also luxurious and unexpected additions.
Bold stripes behind twin beds set the stage for this space. Fun, playful art keeps the room feeling youthful while the classic-but-modern linens give it a sense of calm and grace. A painted pink and white dresser holds essentials between the beds, and a modern, golden light fixture provides an additional bright element.
In this dining area, the wood-and-metal, 10-foot table comfortably seats eight. Underneath the table, a hair-on-hide rug is a geometric zip of color and pattern. The space flows easily into the kitchen on one side and out to a covered patio and grill on the other, ideal for entertaining. The bathrooms in designer Megan Pflug’s lodge are cheery and bright. Where rustic comfort is the order of the day for most spaces here, the bathrooms skew a bit more towards the modern than the rest of the accommodations. Brightly colored fixtures and modern lighting are accompanied by textiles adorned in geometric prints for a pleasing note of contrast that doesn’t feel at odds with the rest of the decor.
Designers wanted the master bathroom to continue the light, sunny design of the master bedroom into the bathroom space, so they continued white walls into the space to reflect the warm, Arizona sunshine let in by high rise windows that keep the space bright, but private. On the floors, designers used white tiles to create a chevron pattern that adds some dimension to the space, while a marble accent wall adds texture and contrast. Designers finished off the space with gold fixtures and wood accents to highlight the room's warmth.
The details in this kitchen are what truly brings the space together. The homeowners wanted a unique renovation, but were concerned with maintaining the home's integrity, so designers combined a few unique, more modern touches with traditional features to create this stunning kitchen. Wallpaper is used throughout the space to add color and warmth while maintaining the traditional feel of the home. The oriental rug between the kitchen island and the sink is another classic touch for the home. Even the gold accented light fixtures bring in the charm that the homeowners love about their home. The homeowners were opposed to white cabinets, so designers installed a countertop that had green hues, which inspired the green countertops in the space.
My client had the structural aspects of this kitchen down, the marble, the cabinetry and the bar stools but knew she needed the finishing touches to pull it all together as this is a space that they entertain in a lot and spend time with their family every day. The island light fixture was the first thing to find as we knew it would be the showstopper and main focal point of the space. We chose a piece that is both rich and contrasting to all of the white to add warmth to the space but that also has some bling to it! The rest of the softness was added through a greige paint color, geometric fabric for the roman shades and the accessories. Now it is a space that they use everyday and love!
