This is the perfect bedroom for a very smart, chic and fashion-savvy teenage girl — a posh white room with a nod to old Hollywood glamor. Fabulous gold and white vintage-inspired wallpaper showcases the tall accent wall behind the bed. The rest of the room is dressed with textural fabrics, vintage touches and gold accessories.
To avoid having a kids' room design that doesn't flow with the rest of the home, consider the colors used in the surrounding areas. In this home, the girls' bedroom is given a tropical palette that works harmoniously with the autumnal colors of the home's common areas.
Designers at StudioHue installed inexpensive white shelving in this contemporary nursery to display all the great titles this little girl will enjoy. Books were arranged as a bookstore display, with titles facing forward for easy detection and to feature them as artwork for the room.
To create contrast and add storage to the space, designers upcycled the little girl's old dresser with a new coat of paint and some new pink, crystal drawer pulls. The dark color helps bring warmth to the room, while the pink crystal drawer pulls bring glamor to the new creation.
"Just because it's a masculine room doesn't mean the bed has to be boring," says Genevieve Gorder, judge for HGTV Design Star commenting on the Girls' team bedroom design. "Add some dimension with a headboard so we don't feel like we're in college."
Home to two little girls and parents who love to entertain, this room needed to be family-friendly while still having a sophisticated feel for their guests. The curvy lines of the whitewashed console table are elegant but relaxed. Tufted cube ottomans are stowed below for extra seating.
Designer Claire Paquin created a little girl's bedroom with room to grow by using a neutral color palette and adding pops of colors for fun. The design remains sophisticated enough to grow into teen years but still functions well for a 3-year-old child. The rug and walls are in soft gray tones, and upholstered armchairs are comfortable and inviting.
"H" stands for Harper, and this glam, modern space for Tiffani Thiessen's daughter features fun, girly pillows that dress up the bed and bring a punch of pink to the all-white room. White Roman shades disappear against the walls, creating a clean look while still serving to block light for sleeping. A glass pendant adds another fun, glamour-girl touch.
StudioHue chose to apply a neutral background color--gray--to this little girl's nursery so that the room could be easily changed as she grows. The designers added highlight colors, shapes and fabrics to add interest, such as the white scalloped mobile over an oval crib, geometric shapes painted on the wall and a soft fur area rug atop the carpet.
StudioHue designed this contemporary nursery to grow with the child, but for now a sitting area with a comfortable midcentury modern chair and ottoman have been placed in the room for parent and baby's needs. The soft gray color will allow bolder colors to be introduced with furnishings, knickknacks and other decorative touches, such as the yellow accent table and wall stripe and lilac pillow and wall square. Who says every little girl needs to be in the pink?
