This welcoming Zen garden draws the eye by placing statues, stones and a prayer bell in a gracefully meandering path. Foliage, like the miniature Japanese maples, provide a backdrop for the focal points.
Landscape designer Scot Eckley and his team cut about 200 rings from various PVC pipes to create a template for the gate. A metal fabricator duplicated the design using aluminum rings cut and welded into one solid piece.
A custom-fabricated metal gate separates the front yard from the modern courtyard. The designer knew the gate had to be interesting enough to stand up to the 5-foot-tall concrete walls on either side, so they designed a self-latching gate. The gate, fabricated by Dennis Schleder, weighs 300 pounds.
