A plush red leather chair with matching ottoman sits diagonally across from a double bookshelf filled with books. A framed art print of Marilyn Monroe hangs on one wall, while the ceiling has been treated to look like an old world map with a grand chandelier in the middle.
Opposite the mirror vignette, a gallery wall of framed art, including prints from Georgia O’Keeffe alongside some of Matthew’s photography work, sits above a beautiful vintage credenza. As a DIY moment, Amy added brass knobs to the honey wood credenza. Changing the knobs is one of her favorite secrets for transforming vintage pieces for a modern space.
Make a space that will last. “You don’t want things to be temporary. You want things that they can grow with,” said Cate Dunning of GordonDunning, who decorated this bedroom as part of a Dwell with Dignity install. This bedroom was for three boys who loved Super Mario Brothers and the Atlanta Falcons, so GordonDunning incorporated red accented with blue and hung framed Mario art prints from Etsy on the wall. The beds were already in the room, and DIY blogger Dena Stormer painted them with Sherwin Williams Positive Red.
A custom wood and glass cabinet doubles as a display case in this art-filled, contemporary living space. A framed, original Andy Warhol print is a stunning complement to the piece and creates the feel of a personal art gallery.
A dozen framed prints hang over over a beige chenille sofa. Ottomans upholstered in a peach and white stripe repeat colors in the art and the throw pillows. A white sculpted area rug ties the space together.
