A sleek Parsons console table and a classically-curved lamp keep this entryway, designed by HGTV's Chip Wade, host of Elbow Room, simple yet modern. Family photos add a little personality, while wicker cubes provide clutter-free storage for odds and ends.
The gold-trimmed mirror served as the inspiration for this entryway designed by Jona Collins. Two tones of black stripes offer more sophistication as a backdrop to the mirror than a single tone of black would. Using such a dark color with light trim grounds the space, completing the elegant look.
A modern white grand foyer designed by Melanie Turner Interiors for a Southeastern Designer Showhouse & Gardens in Atlanta features paneled walls and contemporary artwork, of faces, by Sally King Benedict. The staircase has a sisal stair runner. The entryway also has a settee, a twig cocktail table and a screen with fabric in a Cubist design.
Beautiful planting beds curve toward the house, pointing the way to a wow of an upgraded entrance. Designer John Gidding built an expanded deck to encompass much more of the house and give it a modern profile, then painted the brick a soothing green. Arching walkways help anchor the home into the landscape and give people somewhere to walk besides the driveway.
Struck by the mathematical intricacies required to design the home which played host to the 2015 San Francisco Decorator Showcase, designer Candace Barnes chose to incorporate geometric shapes throughout the grand entry and staircase. Pyramidal shapes are repeated in the hand-blown crystal chandelier, Myke Reilly painting, bronze and granite table and the nailheads trimming the stairwell carpet.
Ochre’s crystal Seed Cloud chandelier hangs above an entry hall leading to a grand staircase in the 2017 Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Home for the Holidays Designer Showhouse. Designer Barbara Westbrook of Westbrook Interiors selected custom wallpaper by Area Environments through Jim Thompson for the dramatic space. Further on, the stair hall features oil on canvas and an antique walnut table.
A custom black metal sign with a positive message greets guests in this entry space. A small black wood bench and floor lamp provide a cozy sitting area before entering the adjacent dining room and kitchen.
This statement entryway was designed with the architectural lines of the home in mind. The landscaping creates a cascade of stone levels leading to the front door, complete with large over-sized planters and shrubs.
An Italian serpentine walnut three-drawer commode, a Tuscan carved giltwood mirror and an 18th century English chinoiserie tall case clock are in the foyer designed by Jacquelynne P. Lanham Designs for the Southeastern Designer Showhouse in Atlanta. The black-and-white floor has a zig-zag pattern. On the commode are two gold Ormolu ornaments on lucite bases and a pair of 1930’s Chinese green hardstone lamps with lavender shades. Two 19th century regency-style chairs with an ebony finish are underneath framed original landscape oils by Tyler Colgan.
This breathtaking foyer was designed to have an open and expansive feel. Two-story ceilings and a light, breezy color palette help accomplish that, while an elegantly curved staircase and a crystal chandelier give the space a sense of sophistication.
The custom railing, wood stair treads, beams, and stained beadboard ceiling treatments all collaborate in making this a successful updated brownstone. White walls add to the spacious feel of the design by keeping the room bright and airy. Neutral furniture in the sitting room blends beautifully with the floor and keeps a classic and timeless look to the design.
A large box in shape and appearance, the foyer is designed to connect the home's public and private wings. The foyer's far wall is framed out with painted pine trim. Inside each 34-inch square lies a panel of corrugated steel, a rustic building material that finds a new sleek, sophisticated interior application.
