Keep kids active toward the end of your party by letting them make and assemble popcorn favor bags for guests. To create these, you’ll need brown paper bags, kid’s scissors, a hole punch, colorful string and markers. Set up a tub of popcorn on a flat, level surface such as a kitchen counter or dining table; then create an assembly line. Assign each kid a specific task such as measuring and adding the popcorn, cutting and attaching the string, punching holes in tags, writing names and/or handing the bags to the guests.
With so much candy around at Halloween parties, a salty snack will hit the spot. Whip up some homemade kettle-popped corn or one of our popcorn recipes below and place in scallop-edged cups. Embellish with dimensional scrapbooking stickers (found at craft stores) or one of our free printables. If you're sending a cup home with your party guests, wrap it in cellophane and tie with ribbon so the popcorn will stay fresh.
Provide make-your-own-ornament kits for each guest. Place craft supplies such as glue sticks, scissors, glitter, washi tape, pens and decorative paper in each box. These orange boxes can double as favors.
Send your guests home with a tasty reminder of the day. Using a reindeer-shaped cookie cutter, bake up a batch of gingerbread cookies. When cool, let the kids help decorate with melted chocolate, red candy melts and edible glitter. Package each cookie nicely into a clear favor bag topped with a printable favor bag label.
Help tiny guests gather their culinary crafts with unique party bags. Find letters and fonts online, and then print them directly onto paper bags by running them through a basic color printer. Prior to the end of the party, keep the bags displayed nearby as tree decor, encouraging kids to take them down and fill them up before they leave.
Mini takeout boxes, gable boxes, paper bags or individual cupcake boxes look fabulous lined up on a serving tray on the dessert table. Filled with candy, macaroons or cupcakes, your guests will be happy to have a treat for later. Top the box with a "thank you" tag that coordinates with the theme.
