On the ground floor entry to Janet Gregg's home the designer has created a striking collage of her own artwork. The bold pinks and blues and idiosyncratic mix of pattern and color immediately establish the unique style that defines the whole home.
Where the master suite was soft and pink, the attached bath is dark and dramatic thanks to sleek black floors and cabinets. A gray marble backsplash in the shower adds interest to the room and accentuates its edgy aesthetic.
Homeowners wanted a non-traditional design in this modern nursery that could grow with their son as he grows, so designers created this edgy space. The black and white color palette makes the space modern and unique, while the black sound waves running up the wall keep the space from feeling too babyish; however, the artwork from Shel Silverstein's classic children's book "Where the Sidewalk Ends" helps to bring nursery innocence to the space. To add the finishing touches, air ducts and pendant lights were exposed to give the space an edgier look and a reading nook was created as a comfortable place to foster learning throughout this little boy's life.
In the powder room, designers wanted to continue the comfortable, modern ranch style they started in the living room, so they anchored their design in the white shiplap that covers most of the walls in the house. Then, they added a wood vanity with a gray countertop that echoes the colors of the furniture in the living room. Finally, designers added a bit of edgy contrast with a black mirror, black fixtures and black sconces.
When punk rock style meets craftsman architecture, the saucy design spawn is definitely something to write home about. So visitors take note: this edgy and eclectic interior by designer Caitlin Murray is in a league of its own.
Just like the rest of the house, this master suite is edgy, eclectic and totally glamorous. Here, gray walls create a soothing, sleep-inducing environment, while a black leather loveseat and hot pink rug add a punk rock touch.
Taking cues from the owners' musical tastes, the master bedroom uses green walls and black trim to achieve a rock & roll color scheme. A metallic light fixture accentuates this look and adds a touch of shimmer to the room.
A midcentury bed with two nightstands encourages the owners to sit and rest after a long day at the office. Meanwhile, a large Moroccan rug softens the hardwood floors and complements the global accents in the master bedroom.
This dining room is a feast for the eyes, drawing guests in with its dramatic black walls and emerald green seating. Even the rug is full of intrigue, as its different colors catch the light from the windows.
This kitchen exemplifies the creative use of dark, bold colors combined with stainless steel, natural materials and dramatic lighting. The colors and materials come together to create an edgy, contemporary look.
Overhead, a 3D ceiling treatment brings some texture to the master bedroom. A gallery wall featuring rock & roll artists completes the space, with metallic frames that echo the color of the chandelier.
To add a little bit of color to this edgy, black and white nursery designers added a mint colored pillow, throw and ottoman. This splash of color helps to soften this modern space and brings warmth to the design.
