Black and white, zigzag print headboards and a trio of artwork are funky, unique additions to this eclectic kids bedroom. The glass-topped table, fashioned from pieces of hand-gathered driftwood, serves as the room's centerpiece and flexible gooseneck lamps aid in reading or homework.
A driftwood end table juxtaposes with the clean lines of the contemporary sofa and the abstract sculptural piece. Sheers diffuse light from the floor-to-ceiling windows, and a natural fiber area rug adds style underfoot.
Nothing evokes a summer feel quite like starfish and seashells. HGTV fan single_mom_on_a_budget dressed up her shabby chic dining room with her favorite beach elements in mind. She incorporated seashells into her year-round china display and then turned the dining table into a dreamy setup for four. Celebrate summer by creating a seasonal table setup of seashells, starfish, candles and small driftwood pieces. Invite people over for seafood favorites, like grilled fish, pan-roasted scallops and coconut shrimp, to go with the warm-weather theme.
In the dining room that separates the kitchen and the living room, designers brought in a fun, wood buffet. The design of the wood on the front of the buffet gives a nod to driftwood that could be found on the beach, adding texture to the space's design. To finish off the nautical feel of the room, a centerpiece was crafted out of seashells, coral and fishing net.
Every room is better with fresh flowers or the perfect green plant to add life and a little fresh air. In the case of this island’s centerpiece, I created a custom “permanent botanical." The large resin bowl (approximately 32 inches in diameter) is filled with multiple varieties of moss, green moss balls, agate, pyrite and driftwood branches to create an elevated natural arrangement. There is no limit to the possibilities and best of all, you can create this look yourself with things you love.
