As seen on HGTV's Love It or List It, the new master bedroom replaces the old office/bedroom. The original window has been enlarged to create a set of double doors with luxuriant window treatments that open onto the backyard. Several large wardrobes line the wall facing the bed, providing lots of storage. The doorway entrance was also moved further down the hall to accommodate the new door entrance into the room.
Wood details throughout this dining room enhance the country look and feel of the design. A set of white chairs alternates with a set of brown chairs around the long dining table. Detailed trim framing the doorway and windows echoes the detailing on the large wood china cabinet. A neutral rug complements the creamy walls and continues the theme of mixing dark and light.
Why travel to the kitchen for a cocktail when this lovely, living room bar cart is within reach? Jackson Paige Interiors created this niche within a doorway of the living room that functions well for a quick pick-me-up after a long day at the office. The luminosity of the glassware, light fixtures and other amenities against the darker teal wall confer a sophisticated edge.
This rustic sitting area features timbered walls and broad windows that offer a view of the gorgeous Wyoming countryside. A comfortable blue sofa adds a pop of color, while artwork gives a nod to the surrounding wildlife while bringing a touch of whimsy. The Gaspar's new kitchen has been completely transformed with new cabinetry, appliances, and wood flooring. A modern black subway tile backsplash, a wood-framed vent hood, granite countertops and a functional kitchen island were installed. The outdated wallpaper was replaced with light blue/gray paint. The doorway between the kitchen and dining room is now wider, as seen on HGTV's Fixer Upper.
This spacious master suite offers a touch of rustic and transitional designs. The wood panel accent wall behind the bed draws the eye downward to the original hardwood flooring. Two flanking white dressers double as night stands with traditional table lamps for soft lighting. Through the main doorway, access the en suite bathroom, or continue to the private outdoor balcony. Or step inside the other door to access the generous walk-in closet.
Dark wood accents the high ceilings in this breathtaking kitchen. The arched doorway, candle-like iron light fixture and wood details bring a French country influence to this contemporary design. A tall, frosted glass range hood creates a bright accent above the dark neutral tile backsplash. A long kitchen island with a brown stone countertop features a thin, modern sink.
White walls and open arch doorways create a spacious and airy feel in this living room. Bright red armchairs and a blue shag rug add bold touches of color to the room. A contemporary neutral sofa creates a perimeter for the room and seating to watch the mounted TV on a natural wood accent wall. Floating shelves, an Asian coffee table and a wood mantle board add wood accents throughout the room.
This open-plan kitchen faces a wall of windows, allowing for plenty of natural light. The cool blue-gray of the kitchen island, topped with white marble contrasts the dark hardwood floor and by vintage-inspired hanging light fixtures with warmly colored glass shades. This dining room from designer Vanessa-DeLeon is flanked with column-framed arched doorways and accentuated with an eclectic mix of the formal and rustic to create a dramatic and unexpected look. The original kitchen was smaller, darker and enclosed. The Longs removed the wall separating the kitchen and den, extended the space out by two feet, and added a series of windows to open it up. The ceilings are the standard 8 feet high, but floor-to-ceiling cabinetry and long, linear shapes lend a sense of more height. They cut new doorways and covered up old doors here, completely reworking the space for a clean and contemporary kitchen.
A dramatic change in the Rao home. With the back wall gone that separated the hallway and entrance from the living room, the room feels twice the size. Additional light flows in from the doorway entrance and the new open staircase. Added lighting on the ceiling and newly repaired windows fill this room with light and warmth. New furniture and flowers make the room feel comfortable, inviting, and warm. As seen on HGTV's Cousins On Call.
During the extensive renovation of this Hollywood penthouse condominium, the design team restored the doorway onto the balcony, as well as the original openwork columns and railings, creating a beautiful space to overlook the famed Chateau Marmont and surrounding Hollywood Hills. Located off the penthouse's kitchen, the balcony was previously accessed by a screen door and the ironwork showed significant signs of wear. Now, it's a relaxed, lovely and fully restored spot to unwind and enjoy the view.
Clean lines and contemporary furniture mix with traditional lighting and Mediterranean design details in this California dining room. Curved lines create harmony in the space, from the arched doorways to the recessed ceiling dome to the round mirror above a modern console. Black and white art is a theme that carries through other rooms in the home's 11,000-square-foot interior. A wall-size pocket door opens this space to one of a series of outdoor courtyards.
Unable to completely remove a load bearing wall to create an open floor plan, Sarah Richardson widened a doorway and cut a large serving window out of the wall between this kitchen and living room to create a semi-transitional space. She updated the kitchen with a gray subway tile backsplash, new countertops and stainless steel appliances for a chic, contemporary look. As seen on season 1 of Sarah Sees Potential.
The lines of this crisp, clean living room and entry guide the eye straight through the wide, arched doorway to the beautiful water views beyond. Paneled walls are painted white, as is the millwork, creating a soft backdrop to the pale aquas and earthy tans in the furnishings and accessories. A traditional carpet runner ascends the stairs, while a rattan console table adds to the homey, beachy vibe.
Ample sunlight and a soothing desert-inspired color palette prove a winning combination in the spa-style master bathroom of the HGTV Dream Home 2010. A drop-in bathtub is encompassed in black-speckled white tiles and given a soft vibe with a row of illuminated candles. A candle chandelier hangs above a painted sage green double vanity, which is contrasted by the dark blue color accents used to trim the doorways.
