This bright white modern kitchen receives bold pops of color with red dining chairs, a cheerful yellow island and colorful wall art. A pair of steel dome pendant lights illuminate the mod white dining table, and as you enter the living area, a black egg chair keeps with the modern design.
Just off the kitchen, this quaint breakfast nook has room for the whole family. A tufted banquette bench and two neutral, upholstered dining chairs surround a round, glass dining table for a casual place to gather. A shimmery dome pendant light and a simple, modern clock complete the stylish, minimal look.
This chic porter's chair has a domed egg-like shaped back with pink patterned fabric and acts as a focal point in the room against lavender walls and a black floor. The small black bookcase, purple and lavender pull-up curtain and lavender rug create a cohesive background for the unique chair.
With an eye toward the surrounding hills of northern California, this truly iconic residence uses a unique series of domes to mimic the natural landscape. Descending stone steps lead guests to the front entrance, while the bright orange and purple exterior serves as a testament to the home's bold eclectic style.
Exposed beams made of Douglas fir and pine were one of the elements designers preserved from the loft's original architecture. They serve as a jumping off point for the many other natural elements used throughout the home. Here, in the kitchen, marble waterfall countertops and simple, dome-shaped pendants are so pretty.
These homeowners wanted to incorporate their love of whimsy into their home decor, so designers added glass domes containing colorful, plastic dinosaurs as the centerpiece for the dining table and the back of the dining bench. These dinosaurs are small, but their contribution to the overall feel of the design in immeasurable.
This dramatic curved double set of steps uses a mixture of Belgard products. The Cambridge Cobble pavers have a pillow-top-like surface with a small dome effect and corners that are slightly rounded. The Anchor Diamond 9D walls by Belgard have a rough-hewn texture.

The new "modern" Israeli restaurant at Atlanta's vibrant food and shopping Westside Provisions, Aziza offers chic, bazaar-style furnishings (think thick velvet curtains, jewel tones, onion-dome rattan light fixtures and low lighting) and cocktails (like the rum and toasted coconut cocktail shown here) and wines from Israel, Lebanon and Turkey.
A round foyer in a Tudor revival cottage dating to 1928 features an original Dutch door, a stone floor and a faux painted dome ceiling. Designer Judy Hodgens grouped together mid-century modern iron chairs, paintings and framed landscapes in her room for a Historic Macon Design House in Georgia. The style has a sense of formality with an updated twist, she says.
The clean, sleek look of this kitchen is achieved with navy blue and white cabinetry and a white subway tile backsplash. To add a modern element, thick concrete counters were poured on site to avoid any seams. Bright, turquoise blue stools and accessories are a fun pop of color. Brass dome pendant lights installed over the counter shine brightly against the white shiplap ceiling.
Says self-proclaimed “thrift-store junkie” Sarah Norton Ramberg of Sadie Seasongoods, “I loved the idea of repurposing something dining-related, in this case, a cheese dome. It makes for nice synergy in a decorative way.” This cloche turned ice rink is a fun spin on a holiday centerpiece and has a charming vintage feel, to boot.
Ramberg’s thrifty tip? “Shop for holiday decor year-round at thrift stores and garage sales. That way, you just spend a little here and there over the course of a year, and by the time the winter holidays arrive, you won't have to spend a dime on decor. It can all go towards gifts!”
Take a cue from the lighting in this coastal kitchen, which combines sleek style with weathered ceiling beams reminiscent of driftwood from the sea. The glass-domed shade on these pendants strikes a fine balance between those modern and rustic elements in this home in Florida’s Alys Beach community. You’ll find similar pendants priced between $125-$200 at lighting and home decor retailers.
