If you live in a dry environment with plenty of sunshine and cool nights, the desert modern look may be a perfect fit. Characterized by simple, low-slung lines, rough textures and classic Western patterns, desert modern is a good mix of contemporary and classic touches.
For her shed, Sherrod went with a "desert sanctuary" theme. "I'm authentically drawn to the colors jade and coral, so I tied those in where possible," says Sherrod. "As an earthy, crunchy Scorpio, I am inspired by elements of nature, so you'll find cactus plants, live edge teak wood, white moonstones, selenite and quartz, a eucalyptus ladder, jute rug, kilim pillows and linen draperies."
This Mediterranean home overlooks a striking view in the California desert. Details such as tiling around windows and doors are artfully done. A white picket fence outlines the home and large ceramic planters are home to decorative foliage plants.
