“We opted for a durable, solid wood dining table from Crate & Barrel for this casual eat-in kitchen nook. It’s perfect for family meals and works equally well for homework or crafts,” says the designer of this project. When matching table and chairs, she says, “always consider the leg finish of your dining chairs: They should be in the same tone family as your dining table. A few shades lighter or darker is fine, as long as the underlying hue is similar.”
Large windows with dark wood trim continue the Old World feel into the dining room. Because the walls and floors are so much lighter, the wood adds dimension to the space and draws the eye in towards the antique table.
A large neutral area rug and neutral walls create the backdrop for this Asian dining room. Glass cases display traditional Asian attire, providing beautiful and unique wall decor. Two dark wooden buffets surround the white fireplace and echo the dark coloring of the long dining table. Low-back chairs rest under a large, rectangular light fixture.
Pale green floral patterns were hand-painted on this dining room wall using a large-scaled stencil. Moldings encase the paintings, producing a similar effect to framed wallpaper at a fraction of the cost. The dark wood dining table and pendant chandelier add sophisticated style to this transitional dining space.
In the dining room, an earthy, organic feel is achieved with a beautiful wooden dining table and woven chairs. The neutral palette allows room for the bold centerpiece with its bright green leaves and pink flowers.
This dining room channels Asian aesthetics with light wood chairs that have a bamboo-like texture. A large framed cloud photo brings a feeling of the outside in, while a white and chrome dining table keeps things bright and airy.
The doorway in between the dining room and the kitchen was widened so that both rooms could soak up the sunlight and the views. As the dining room was also lacking in architectural sophistication, designers also added traditional moldings as well as a chandelier over the dining table.
Gray walls and white floor length curtains create a backdrop for the simple and beautiful dark wood round dining table. The circular table is surrounded by four matching chairs with suede upholstery. A large white hanging light fixture has a complimentary shape above the red placemats and blue glasses.
The dark teal walls and wood beamed ceiling give this dining room a warm and intimate feel. Small details like a wallpapered buffet, framed clown artwork and bright yellow vase add pizzazz to the space.
