"Fun" is the word that best describes this teen girl's room. A blue focal wall matches the custom headboard, making the room pop with color. For the bathroom of a longtime customer-turned-friend, designer Katie Gagnon created a unique storage unit for the space between a pair of pedestal sinks. “This was a long-term project, and we spent a lot of time curating the perfect pieces for her ever-evolving space,” says Gagnon. “This storage cabinet was one we had custom made by an artisan we work with. The door is a vintage salvaged piece that had the original paint sanded off and we added an iron cremone bolt for some contrast and visual interest.”
The inspiration for the living room came from the classic, Victorian architecture and bay windows that faced the street. A custom light fixture made of blue glass can be seen from the sidewalk. The sofa was a vintage find that was re-upholstered in a velvet orange fabric. A highlight for this room is the custom designed fireplace made out of hot-rolled steel.
Comfortable sofas are 100% green with cushions filled with toxin-free natural latex instead of foam, covers made from organic cotton linen and frames built with only real wood. Earth tones add warmth and depth to the space, while a tufted blue ottoman brings a sophisticated touch to the room.
Custom-made curtains in a quatrefoil pattern pop against the blue walls of this living area, as seen on HGTV’s Property Brothers. A trellis-style shelf holds flowers and accessories that add a traditional garden atmosphere to the room.
Coastal decor is found in the details in this spacious family room. Upholstered light-sea blue chairs sit aside an off-white sectional sofa and additional seating is provided by upholstered ottomans. A large flat-panel television hangs above a grand fireplace. Custom cabinetry provides additional storage for this open concept living room.
Entertain in elegance with this formal living room, complete with ornate sage and blue sofas, built-in wood bookshelves and hearth, an exquisite oriental rug, custom drapery, and patterned ottoman. "The blue and green work together because they are analogous colors of similar intensity," says designer Cynthia Mason. For a more modern feel, deepen the intensity to kelly green and navy.
