Everything in this interior was thoughtfully designed by Ana Claudia and her husband. In the kitchen, custom details stand out as unique statement pieces. Chevron brick tile creates a graphic display as the backsplash behind the kitchen stove. At the center of the kitchen, an island has been designed, blending stone and natural wood in an unexpected way. The mix of materials adds to the home’s story of midcentury meets modern design.
Before Tze and her husband, Geoff could move in, the home needed a complete makeover. The kitchen became a sleek, modern affair in a colorful mix of light blue, warm woods and cool white. The open shelving was a DIY touch added by the couple once they moved into the space.
Fixer Upper hosts Chip and Joanna Gaines used plumbing pipes and wood planks to create industrial-style open shelving that is perfectly at home in this rustic farmhouse kitchen. The shelving blends well with the shiplap paneling feature wall, island made from vintage wood and wood-trimmed range hood. Elegant white subway tile and cabinets and gray quartzite countertops balance the rusticity of the space.
Upstairs, the library is distinctly different from the dreamlike world beneath. The space is studious and more restrained in its color palette, but colorful components shine through in the seating and art. The space is a significant one, as everything in it once belonged to Paul’s godparents. Upon inheriting it, he painstakingly had each piece of the library moved from Manhattan to Brooklyn, reassembling the room in his home just as it had been in theirs.
This grand French Country Estate boasts custom wood shutters and native stone wainscoting for a charming yet elegant look. Archways with gorgeous wood doors and wrought iron accents add to the formal design.
Custom draperies are banded at the leading edge in geometric gold, a nice contrast to ocean-hued walls in this transitional home office. A shagreen leather desk with nail-head trim pairs with a painted Chippendale chair, creating a workspace that feels more like fun. A painterly pillow in the desk chair inspired the room’s colorful palette.
The abstract millwork in the entryway pulls guests into the main spaces of the home. On the wall opposite the millwork, a series of photographs help to showcase the homeowners' love for art as well as their personality.
Dark walls, chrome lighting and multi-toned window treatments add a sleek dynamic to this contemporary home office. But the showstopper in this room has to be the handcrafted desk with its mix of wood finishes and modern angular shape.
