Vintage furnishings create a lived-in look and feel. The vintage chandelier and vintage French bed meet contemporary style by mixing in a Crate & Barrel table lamp, an IKEA desk chair and a West Elm desk.
This neutral cottage living room features vertical shiplap walls, white sofas, a clear acrylic console table, a midcentury modern parquet coffee table, and a Moroccan blue side table from Crate & Barrel.
To create a fun, livable room, designers added a durable, leather sofa that would be easy to clean. Then, they added Peter Dunham pillows and a Crate and Barrel coffee table to complete the space and add color and texture.
The master bedroom has a cozy reading corner thanks to a floor lamp and well-worn club chair upholstered in a rich-looking oxblood vinyl. A crate flipped over feels right at home as a convenient side table.
“We opted for a durable, solid wood dining table from Crate & Barrel for this casual eat-in kitchen nook. It’s perfect for family meals and works equally well for homework or crafts,” says the designer of this project. When matching table and chairs, she says, “always consider the leg finish of your dining chairs: They should be in the same tone family as your dining table. A few shades lighter or darker is fine, as long as the underlying hue is similar.”
Designer Kari McIntosh Dawdy added two small barrel armchairs in turquoise blue velvet to accompany this shades of blue family room. They blend with, yet provide visual contrast against the medium blue walls for an unexpected yet entirely appealing design. Brass floor lamps and urn occasional tables, bold pillows and the pink tones seen in the dining area also give the room pizzazz.
