Wall space above a bookshelf doesn't always have to have art. In this living room, designer Janna Allbritton used a wood coat rack with metal hooks, which is cheaper than a painting. Then you can display anything you want, whether it's a simple number for a graphic element or colorful hats or scarves.
A beautiful table scape completes this French country living room. Coffee table books along with accessories add interest and depth to the overall feel. The antique portrait provides a watchful eye over the room. A Hermes blanket is neatly folded over an antique french chair covered in taupe leather; antique alter sticks are topped with modern LED honeycomb candles that provide a warm glow during the evening hours.
This country-style living room infuses Mexican decor for a cozy, Southwest feel. Pottery is displayed in a wall-length glass case, and pillows with Southwestern designs and animal prints line the furniture.
The room seems as if it's perched over the water with its wraparound windows. Designer Sarah Richardson arranged the seating around the perimeter of the room so each seat has the perfect view of the water. The shades of blue in the upholstery represent the water, and layering the different patterns, like ikat, floral and striped, gives the room a lighthearted look.
