The state of Maryland and its flag, Black Eyed Susans, a Baltimore Oriole (the state bird) and newly elected Governor Larry Hogan are honored in this intricate corn maze design at Lawyer’s Farm in Thurmont, Maryland.
Corn mazes are especially popular with problem solvers and those who enjoy brain teasers but not everyone enjoys getting lost in a corn field so think twice before you enter one. A corner suite designed by BAMO at The New York Palace Hotel features a comfortable sectional sofa with nailhead detail. The Greek key pattern of the sofa trim is echoed in the design of the rug, while the warm chevron pattern and rust-colored accents provide additional dimensions of color.
With antique French and English touches, traditional design is a picture of elegance in a room nicknamed “The Classic Corner” by designer Patricia McLean for a Home for the Holidays house in Atlanta. A French gilt mirror is surrounded by antique botanical prints by Abraham Munting and Dutch landscapes with gilt rope frames. The French gilded candlesticks were wired as table lamps to give height to the cream-painted chest.
The homeowners wanted a simple, modern bedroom design, so designers started with sleek, neutral tile on the floor and a complementary wood paneling on the wall. Then, they added a four post bed and pendant light to create height in the design. For comfort, designers added a silk rug and black and white curtains that help to diffuse the sunlight that comes in through the room's expansive windows.
In this guest bedroom, designers wanted to bring the illusion of a pool to the space, so they installed wallpaper to the ceiling that mimics the design of a pool liner. The bold, blue tye-dye bedspread mirrors that feeling, while sandy wood and a neutral rug bring warmth to the space.
