In this New York apartment, designer Nick Olsen uses long alternating black and gray stripes on the wall to accentuate the length of this contemporary galley kitchen. “With my room, I intend to take viewers on a fantastical voyage through the cutting edge of today’s art and design universe,” explains designer Jeff Lincoln of Jeff Lincoln Interiors. The rug—a new design by Paul Robinson for the rug Company called Lagoon—sets the foundation for the whole space. The walls received a custom Venetian plaster finish, a neutral choice meant to make the rest of the room’s contemporary furnishings shine.

The bar features a keg tap, a wine fridge, a dishwasher, a refrigerator, and ample storage for glassware and other serving pieces.
As seen on HGTV's House Hunters Renovation, homeowners Robert Marra and Nathan Baynard found their ideal house in the Silverlake neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. They created a contemporary office in one of the guest bedrooms using a bright blue/green color for the walls, to set off the black furniture, and placing a full-length mirror on one wall to bring more light into the room.
