This open-concept living and dining area sticks to a neutral base. The wood floor, shiplap walls, drapery and furniture are all neutral colors. The large area rug has a simple pattern as well as the upholstery throughout the space. The only dramatic flair in the room comes from the the throw pillows and a few accessories, including the art on the wall.
To further play up the industrial modern cottage vibe in this small beach house, a concrete slab floor and industrial HVAC vent running through the ceiling were left in place. Shiplap was added to one accent wall to bring in that coastal element. A blue painted sliding door opens into the bathroom and brings a little bit of color to this space.
A shiplap finish covers the chimney interior and wall to add texture and a subtle accent wall to the room. The tall ceiling makes the spacious room even more expansive and airy. A colorful canvas above the fireplace adds bold color to the neutral tones of the room. Soft green sofas and cushioned wood rocking chairs provide cozy seating around a square wood coffee table.
The master bedroom has hardwood floors and a colorful area rug. A new chandelier, white shiplap walls and gray paint brighten the room and bring a modern feel to the house, as seen on HGTV Fixer Upper. Bright blue bed decor compliments the blue area rug and a floral throw pillow finishes off the bed with a pop of color.
The clean, sleek look of this kitchen is achieved with navy blue and white cabinetry and a white subway tile backsplash. To add a modern element, thick concrete counters were poured on site to avoid any seams. Bright, turquoise blue stools and accessories are a fun pop of color. Brass dome pendant lights installed over the counter shine brightly against the white shiplap ceiling.
A black-and-white patterned tile, custom vent hood and pot-filler faucet are fixed between upper and lower cabinetry in this stylish country kitchen. On the facing wall a mounted indoor herb garden adds a natural life to the room. Hardwood flooring and the soft sage color of the cabinets pair with the granite countertop and shiplap walls for a timeless, inviting look.
In the powder room, designers wanted to continue the comfortable, modern ranch style they started in the living room, so they anchored their design in the white shiplap that covers most of the walls in the house. Then, they added a wood vanity with a gray countertop that echoes the colors of the furniture in the living room. Finally, designers added a bit of edgy contrast with a black mirror, black fixtures and black sconces.
In the sitting room, designers created a bright, yet cozy space for the homeowners and their family. The painted shiplap walls and ceiling keep the space feeling bright, while the wood beams in the ceiling and the frames of the chairs bring warmth to the room. For an added bit of color, the chairs were given gray cushions and the fireplace brick was painted gray to create a focal point in the space. The heaters in the ceiling add to the warmth in the space and enable it to be used on even the coldest of days.
