Instead of buying all-new furniture to create a calm coastal environment in her living room, designer Lori Rourk transformed her existing furniture. "All of this furniture in its existing state was very dark and gloomy. I loved the lines of all of these pieces, so instead of buying new, I would recreate my vision to be light and airy," Rourk says.
White nightstands flank a cream upholstered bed covered in lovely blue-gray linens in this coastal master bedroom. A natural fiber rug softens the weathered wood floors, and a charming white dresser coordinates with the nightstands. The overall look is calming, relaxing and inviting.
The master bedroom from HGTV Dream Home 2015 combines neutrals with calming shades of blue as a nod to the soft coastal style found in the Cape Cod home. According to interior designer Linda Woodrum, the space is intended to be a calming, tranquil room that makes its inhabitants instantly relaxed.
