LED light-paneled walls in this two-story walk-in closet light floor-to-ceiling shelves that show off an extensive collection of shoes and handbags. A sliding wood ladder allows access to high shelves and cabinets.
Old wallpaper was removed in the homeowner's master bedroom and replaced with a light gray/blue paint and white wood molding. Sliding barn doors add an architectural element to the room and conceal the his-and-hers closets. The natural wood paneling on the ceiling complements the shiplap elements seen throughout the house on HGTV's Fixer Upper.
This clever Japanese shoji panel closet runs along an entire 20-foot wall and has no side panels, so there’s plenty of room for clothes, a home theater, boxes, household goods and more. It was designed by Hanson Hsu of Delta H Design Inc., who used natural tone basswood with “Synskin” as a new technology substitute for delicate paper. The classic shoji design allows a beautiful contrast to the exposed wood trusses and concrete floors of the modern residential structure.
With a laundry nook right smack in the middle of their bedroom, Erin and Chris decided to mask it with a simple drapery panel that easily slides open for instant access. Erin notes, "While staring at a washer and dryer isn't ideal for a design enthusiast like me, I really couldn't complain since having a washer and dryer in a San Francisco rental is a total luxury. So we just worked with it!"
Sometimes you can simply eliminate a shelf or two and your storage space will expand significantly. Barriers and other dividers just create dead space within your closet, so the sooner you can remove them, the more space you can create for your essentials. Lisa Adams, CEO and designer of LA Closet Design, made a few cosmetic changes to this walk-in closet that make it feel more spacious and maximize the storage space. "In this closet I eliminated the vertical panels between individual cabinets/sections, creating an open, horizontal look. This opens up the space and makes it feel much bigger," Lisa says. "The use of L-shaped shelves and hanging rods at the corners, again, maximizes the corner spaces and makes the closet feel more customized and luxurious." Photo courtesy of LA Closet Design.

In this bedroom, double closet doors were given mirror finishes and a third mirrored panel added at the end. The mirror trio fits perfectly beneath linear HVAC slots above for a look that's clean and balanced.
Designer Melissa Greenauer recently transformed a stark, minimalist residence in Manhattan into a warm and elegant retreat from city life for its new owner. The walk-in closet reflects the client’s traditional style with rich wood tones and classic detailing like fluted panels, antiqued glass overhead light fixtures and leather hardware. Carlisle Wide Plank Floors' custom hickory flooring is the foundation of Greenaur's design for this well-organized space.
Although the remodeling budget didn't allow for replacement of these mirrored closet doors, they were refreshed by attaching painted overlays. The teddy bear drawing was made for the baby as a gift by a close family friend.
