This unique contemporary kitchen is filled with bright white light from the circular skylight over the work island, white painted walls and cabinets, white vent hood, dark marble counters, and striking Spanish mosaic tile backsplash.
This beautiful, open kitchen features light green walls, white cabinets and a dark green, circular dining table. Wrought iron pendant lights and a copper range hood complement the black and brown tile backsplash. White upholstered chairs around the dining table and neutral bar chairs at the island provide plenty of seating options to enjoy the inviting space.
A stainless steel range hood fits between the white cabinets over this black stovetop and white countertop. A gray and white circular pattern backsplash decorates the solid color fixtures. Rose gold cabinet handles add a sheen to the room complimented by a matching utensil holder.
For the backsplash in the kitchen of this ski chalet, designer Kelli Kaufer turned to her client’s hobby for inspiration, creating a backsplash covered with pieces of old skis. “The homeowner had a few old skis around and we also found a few more at a local second-hand store,” says Kaufer. She used a circular saw to cut the skis into 2” x 2” pieces, glued them to the wall using adhesive designed for metal, and filled the gaps between the ski pieces with small mosaic tiles. Regular sanded grout holds the pieces in place. “The backsplash adds whimsy,” she says. “And, it’s easy to clean. Skis are designed to take a beating!”
The large island brings useful countertop space to this open design kitchen. A pair of circular chandeliers bring a cool, industrial influence to the midcentury modern style. Charcoal gray bar chairs pull out the gray coloring in the tile backsplash as well as the exposed beams overhead. Glass doors allow natural light to flood the room and intensify the bright, airy look.
Use recurring patterns and materials for a cohesive style throughout the kitchen. Designer Diane Foreman, of Neil Kelly Company used a mix of stainless steel and colored tiles for the backsplash of this 2016 National Kitchen + Bath Association Competition winning kitchen. The tile echoes the stainless steel in the sink and cooktop, and Foreman repeated a circular pattern throughout the room, a technique she says adds professional flair to the space.
The backsplash in this bathroom is the star of the show. Its circular white tiles are presented uniquely with black grout -- the contrast is striking, and dark grout doesn't show dirt and stains as readily as light.
Elegance meets luxury in this fun powder room where black hexagon tiles are outlined in gold glitter grout on the backsplash. West Elm's diamond crystal pendant pairs well with the circular sink and mirror, Caesarstone counters and floating walnut vanity.
The beauty of a neutral space is its ability to morph quickly with a change of accessories -- in this case, grass-green towels and rug. And neutral doesn't have to mean boring -- touches such as the backsplash with circular tiles and a subway-tiled shower with cutout storage area make this bathroom quirky and unique.
Taking full advantage of the open floor plan, a semi-circular island anchors this eat-in kitchen with a tiered breakfast bar. The textured finish on the bar is a visual treat, alongside the mosaic tile backsplash above the pale wood cabinetry.
