Simple changes, like switching out your bar stools or introducing a new metal through a lamp or stool, can really change the look of a space with a fairly small investment, says designer Donna Mathis of Haven Design Works. So look for the little ways you can make a big change in your kitchen, and don’t forget to look down in the process. Mathis says adding or changing a rug in a breakfast area can change the feel of the entire space.
When Tara first started sourcing changing tables, she found herself less drawn to those with overly youth-specific styles, instead leaning towards classic pieces with adult appeal. She opted for an ultra-white changing table/dresser as well as a graphic, round geometric mirror. Once Lily gets older, the pair of pieces can be used for many different purposes in different areas of the home.
Not only is the color of kitchen cabinets changing — hardware manufacturers, like Blum, are changing the way cabinet doors and drawers function. Small changes can make a big impact, especially in small spaces. Consider changing up your porch's welcome mat each season for a fresh look. In keeping with the warm gray tones of this porch's outdoor decor, a graphic lattice-patterned mat is swapped in.
