By adding vertical shelves between windows you can create a fresh and open storage unit in any room. The floating shelves can provide the same amount of storage as a case good without the use of a bulky cabinet or bookshelf. Design by John Gidding
To create a restful, yet still traditional space, designers added soft textures and hues, combining a natural, woven rug with a skirted sofa to create a traditional, timeless space. To create a design that is both elegant and perfect for entertaining, watching TV and enjoying the views to the outside, the sofas were carefully arranged directly in front of the custom, built-in cabinet with traditional millwork that provides beautiful display shelves while concealing the television, adding function and elegance.
The stunning chef's kitchen boasts a combination of sanded stainless steel, granite countertops and hand-cut painted glass tiles. The kitchen is organized with sleek and ergonomincally functional cabinets, allowing its top-of-the-line applicances to be concealed yet easily accessible. The appliances include: a gas stove with a warming drawer, double ovens, an induction cooktop inset into the granite island, two dishwashers strategically placed on each side of the sink and a side-by-side refrigerator and freezer. Two walk-in pantries allow for ample storage of both food and china dishware.
The cabinets were custom crafted by Benchcraft Custom Woodwork, out of Rift Sawn Oak finished in a warm grey stain. The accented island in grey creates the perfect backdrop for The Artistic Tile Estrella Silver Blend, adding sparkle and dimension. The Perimeter Stone is Pietra de Cardosa and the island stone is Blanco Karibib edged in a reverse bevel. The bright red Currey Pendants add a touch of whimsy amidst the neutral sophistication while in contrast, The Dorrivracht faucet adds a bit of edginess.
This attractive floating vanity fits Pure Design Interiors' contemporary theme for their bathroom renovation with its simple and straightforward design. Its dark brown hue contrasts well with the room's light walls and vanity countertop and coordinates with the metal bathroom accessories and mirrors. The see-through glass medicine cabinet is also a functional addition.
The removal of the wall that separates the kitchen and the living room creates a more open space for dinners and entertaining. The new white kitchen has new non-slip tiles (for the aging dogs), new cabinets, appliances, and lighting, as well as in-floor heating (for the dogs). The kitchen is also surrounded by built in pocket dog doors which allows the homeowners to contain the dogs in a comfortable environment while they are away. As seen on HGTV's hit show Love It or List It Too.
During the renovation of a kitchen, dining, and living area, the team at Chioco Design incorporated strong, pared-down design elements, including a clerestory window above the wall of cabinets and a blackened steel vent hood. Instead of choosing bright colors for the space, or even an all-white palette, they used a selection of muted shades that keep the focus on the architecture. “The muted colors in this space offers a neutral palette for which form and light are the main contributors,” say the designers.
From the get-go, there’s no mistaking this house is sophisticated and fun. The black-and-white cabinet from AllModern and the arrangement of abstract art—a canvas from Grandin Road and framed pieces by Kim Curran—have gallery appeal. Meanwhile, the symmetry of the blue West Elm lamps and caned chairs from CB2 give the setup an elegant touch.
Designer Linda McDougald turned a culinary student's dream kitchen into a reality with a brilliant kitchen design that has all the trimmings to make cooking, cleaning and entertaining a breeze. A vaulted ceiling allows for a tall cabinet and range hood in this impressive transitional kitchen. Gray brick adds an accent strip to the wall under the range hood. The large island features two sinks on the gray countertop. A neutral bar extends from the island providing eating room. Industrial pipe stools with wood tops add a distinctive detail.
As seen on HGTV's Love It or List It Too, this family room is bright and inviting. With a large sofa and brightly colored bean bags, there is plenty of seating, while the built in cabinets add lots of storage for the family. The yellow accents in the space help to make it bright, while the natural wood coffee table and gray of the sofa warm up the space, making it inviting.
The homeowners felt their space was lacking in architectural detail, so they had designers add some within the modern design. Above the kitchen island, a drop ceiling gives dimension to the space, while a niche above the refrigerator cabinets showcases some of the homeowners' unique statues, while another niche creates a bar area for the homeowners between the kitchen and living room.
“Designed for wine lovers who enjoy entertaining often, this wet bar was installed in the dining room where they host dinner parties, holiday meals and entertain most of the time,” says designer Nathan J. Reynolds. “Next to the kitchen, it’s a convenient place for additional counter space for mixing drinks, plating desserts, or serving coffee and after-dinner drinks.” The design includes a Kohler sink, Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer drawers, and a Sub-Zero wine refrigerator. “Glass cabinets above the wet bar distinguish it from the rest of the workspace and showcase handsome glassware and collectibles,” he adds.
You know what they say-first impressions are the most important, and this elegant, traditional bathroom makes a great first impression. The pocket doors are made of beautiful glass and rich wood, and since they are built into the door frame, they do not take any room from the space. Upon entering the bathroom, you can see that the rich wood of the doors is continued in the space with the cabinets and vanity which are made out of the same material. The space's patterned tile on the floor and the backsplash continue this elegant vibe throughout.
This contemporary kitchen is small in size but big on style. Simple lines and beautiful natural wood tones paired with modern pendant lighting create a clean, sleek look. A metallic backsplash adds visual interest while the frosted glass cabinets add warmth to the space. A small kitchen island and connecting modern table and bench make this space perfect for casual entertaining and dining. Colorful artwork on the far wall brings a touch of the tropics to this space.
The owners of this elegant Spanish Colonial needed a kitchen that could meet the needs of their family's busy lifestyle, designers created a functional, stylish kitchen space that could do just that. A wide, galley style kitchen gives the homeowners plenty of counter space and storage space, while a connected dining space gives the family a place to enjoy their meals together. To finish off the space with an elegant look, the cabinets have an antique finish and the refrigerator has been covered in matching wood panels to give the appliance a more upscale look.
Being ardent Scuba Divers, the clients requested that their show stopping powder room be a true reflection of their marine expeditions! To create the illusion of flowing water, the designer installed a tile with an aquatic pattern, which when put together created the desired cascading effect. Anchoring this set-up is a dark-stained cherry slab panel door cabinet that hides the plumbing.
The Durfy kitchen has been updated to include an open concept floor plan and a classy color palette. The all white kitchen contains modern aspects such as the custom glass cabinet doors, the unique pendant lights, the milk glass accents and the pops of color throughout the space. The modern design on the back wall pulls the space together.
For the renovation, the clients' desire was to strike a balance between mountain-rustic and modern, so they kept the exposed beams, wood ceiling and walls to bring the rustic look into the design. They modernized the space by adding sleek, white cabinets and black countertops. Then, they added cool pendant lights, a bold wall color, a matching backsplash and unique window treatments. The open shelves give the couple storage space while displaying the couple's dishes.
