This streamlined porch area features many structural details to create a visually interesting entrance to the HGTV Dream Home 2014. A tile path leads to a light wood door flanked by large windows, which opens up the space for a welcoming feel.
The white exterior of this house creates a beautifully bright look in the sunlight. A black front door matches the window framing. The brown mulched yard compliments the shingled roof and allows the plant life to shine. Blooming flowers and turquoise pots add extra color to decorate the yard.
With the front room converted back to an open front porch, the door was reworked to match the others. Exposed wood beams were added and tie in visually with the original hardwood floors and stained wood doors.
Natural lighting through the french doors pairs with the bright yellow wall color to create a sunny look in this space. The smooth, polished finish of the spiral staircase creates a fluid focal point in the design. The french doors are finished with beams over the glass for a bit of a decorative touch.
Since this beach house is raised to meet flood requirements -- as are many -- it's always nice to have a place to gather outside right outside of the living and kitchen spaces without coming down out of the residence. Designers used outdoor fabrics, furnishings, appliances and built-in cabinetry to withstand the sun, salt, sand, wind and rain that is common on beach house porches.
The light, unstained wood front door fits perfectly with the fresh, bright look of this home's entryway. The light green walls surround the space with a positive energy. A white column, white trim and window seat fill the space with clean lines and sharp design.
Decorative lighting, natural texture and a pop of matte color combine to create this elegant country entryway. A natural wood frame encompasses natural rock walls and a blue door. Neutral walls and flooring finish the beautiful color palette.
Sharp lines and smooth wood siding make up the exterior of this midcentury modern home. A variety of planted shrubs and ornamental grass creates a textural display and adds natural color to the entryway. A gravel walkway curves up to the wood framed, glass front door.
The natural finish of the front door is paired with black exterior sconces and concrete planters for a stylized and welcoming exterior look. Dark shutters provide a pleasant contrast to the light brick color and white railing.
