A classic leather Chesterfield sofa takes center stage in this masculine living room. Blue and white throw pillows add color to the sofa, while cowhide ottomans complement the warm leather and provide a place to rest your feet.
Movie nights call for popcorn, knit blankets and cuddling up in this cozy den. A brown leather sofa provides comfortable, kid-friendly seating while recessed lights overhead can be lowered for a theater-like atmosphere.
The open layout of this transitional living space flows nicely into the dining area and adjacent kitchen. Warm wood floors connect the spaces together, and a brown leather sofa and cozy brown armchair offer comfortable seating in the living room.
For a family with three boys under the age of 12, a sprawling family center that opens out to the backyard was just the ticket. “An open-plan living made sense to them as they really wanted a room that would be the "heart" of the home and where they could all gather together and interact with each other, even if they are doing different activities,” says designer Nelly Reffet of Twinkle & Whistle Interior Design. To give the space an inviting feel, Reffet took care with her choices of color and material. “One of the possible downsides of open-plan living, especially in contemporary homes, is that the room may feel a little cold and impersonal,” she says. “Using ‘warm’ or earthy materials and/or colors, as well as a mix of textures is a great way to balance this, and to create a more lived-in space.”
The brown leather sofa was a smart choice for this great room, as it both balances out the tufted armchairs and provides extra seats for visitors. Meanwhile, a blue painting decorates the mantel and encourages conversation before dinner.
Natural light from the wood-framed french doors highlights the bright, clean design of this living room. A shag blue rug is a beautiful texture and color contrast to the smooth brown leather sofa. An arched nook features cabinets and shelves for decorative storage.
A large doorway opening to the outside keeps this living room feeling bright and open. Natural light bounces off the white walls and ceiling. A brown leather sofa and reclaimed wood beams add texture and slightly darker hues to the design. A mix of blue throw pillows and blue on the armchairs bring a splash of color to the space.
A brown leather sofa matches a dark wooden coffee table in front of the neutral living room walls. Orange throw pillows and a contrasting patterned blue pillow add color to the room. Two scenic photos and a bright blue breakfast tray pull repeat the hue.
This midcentury modern living room has an air of elegance with its low-slung furniture, metallic accents and large artwork. The tawny color of the leather sofa adds a warmth to the sophisticated space.
