A burlap canopy and bed hanging evokes casual countryside style and enhances a new four-poster bed. Susan Sully, author of “Past Present: Living with Heirlooms and Antiques,” which features the home of architect Norman Askins, says accessories like the brass candlestick and hurricane lamp are inexpensive and intensify the style of the room.
This eclectic bedroom features a white upholstered bed with a tufted headboard and a gray and white wallpaper accent wall. A brass chest and faux fur rug sit at the foot of the bed, while gold oval mirrors are positioned on either side. Pink pillows add a pop of color and black hardwood floors provide a finishing touch.
This light and bright French country bedroom features soft neutrals paired with colorful blue accents, like the bed linens and framed art above the bed. A wood paneled ceiling lends a natural look, while a bright orange desk adds a splash of fun color. A modern brass chandelier finishes off the look of the space.
This serene white bedroom features shiplap walls, an expansive bed with eclectic pillows, a white bedspread, and a faux fur throw, and elegant brass reading lights. A painting above the nightstand echoes the fiddle leaf fig's broad leaves and tawny tones on decorative pillows.
The white-paneled vaulted ceilings in this transitional master bedroom stands out against the emerald green accent wall. The bed, with a tufted headboard and plush linens, centers the room beside a square modern nightstand with brass accents and a window with a roman shade.
On either side of the bed, two wooden nightstands give the owners a spot for family photos and fresh flowers. Notice how the nightstand's brass pulls complement the lamp's base and so tie the room together.
In the master bedroom, the wall on which the bed rests is covered in a gorgeous, metallic silver grass cloth that conceals the hidden door to the closet. Above the mirrored, four-poster bed, a brass chain link chandelier makes a bold statement, while rich texture was added with black faux fur pillow shams and blanket at the food of the bed. To personalize the space even further, designers had a modern, monogram printed on metallic linen.
A unique brass chandelier with ceiling fan creates the perfect focal point in this transitional master bedroom with gray luxurious wallpaper. A tufted headboard with mirror trim gives the bed a sophisticated feel paired with matching nightstands and two armchairs at the foot of the bed. The textured plush rug gives the room warmth and looks perfect on the rustic hardwood floors.
This light and bright French country bedroom features a funky brass chandelier that adds a contemporary touch to the space. Natural wood planks cover the ceiling, while blue and white linens and a pintucked upholstered headboard decorate the bed. An orange desk adds a vibrant pop of color.
A round nightstand on each side of the bed offers a spot for framed photos and books for nighttime reading. A long-necked sconce with a salt-blasted glass globe and antique brass-finished metal frame on the wall on each side of the bed offer soft and stylish lighting.
The geometric headboard above the bed is a custom walnut bed and headboard created by Susan Jamieson of Bridget Beari Designs using custom paint colors named for dogs (proceeds go to rescue groups). Brass lamps rest on black nightstands and a chunky knit gray throw is at the foot of the bed. The room was designed by Jamieson for a Southeastern Designer Showhouse in Atlanta.
The bedside cabinets and master bed are custom pieces designed by Habachy Designs. The bed has a sophisticated, channeled headboard with wood trim. Even in a neutral and white space, warmth was created through the mixture of old and new. There is a big mix of vintage pieces with new designs. The vintage desk chair is brass and zebra hide and phenomenally crafted with its skinny, curved and tapered legs.
Bright, white ceilings with custom millwork and an elegant chandelier lighten up this eclectic master bedroom. Surrounded with black wallpaper, this bedroom pairs brass accents with bold colors, from the dresser and coffee table to the red velvet sofa at the foot of the canopy bed.
This master bedroom benefits from hand-painted blue and white ombré walls features an ethereal design scheme, including chic, Bohemian features like the floral curtains and brass pendant lights. Vintage mirrors hang above the neutral tufted headboard, while two plush orange upholstered ottomans sit at the foot of the bed.
This light and bright bedroom features rustic exposed beam ceilings and blue and white floral wallpaper. Gray and white striped linens cover the bed, while brass sconces are positioned on either side. A vase of red flowers sits atop the gray nightstand, while a red dresser adds a finishing touch.
When couples combine furniture, sometimes major pieces, like a bed, need to be freshened up. Atlantan Amanda Macy Hall, who blogs about home decor and DIY projects, transformed a queen cherry sleigh bed that belonged to her husband, Josh, with upholstery. She used a cheap drop cloth and a roll of brass decorative nails. “I love the look of the drop-cloth, a beautiful natural color with subtle texture, and the nailheads bring the added style that helps to tie it to the rest of our room.”
