Here's a family room with family at the center -- literally! Neutral tones create a bright space; nuance is brought through use of patterns and shapely accents -- such as the sunburst mirror and brick fireplace. Clean and clear pale blue accents are a welcome addition to the contemporary living space.
Aside from the kitchen, Chris planned to spend the least amount of money on his second bedroom, which would be used as an office. Taking the advice of a designer friend, he had the room painted in a blue-grey tone from Sherwin-Williams called Krypton and had custom draperies in a modern print made from a clearance bin fabric at $11.99 per yard. Since his laptop is pretty much the only thing he needs to work from home, the room was simply furnished with a vintage desk picked up from an antique market for $600 and paired with a black woven grass chair from IKEA that was $59. To soften the area underfoot, he installed FLOR tiles in a striped pattern, alternating each tile for a parquet look.
A pair of upholstered stools offers versatile seating in this transitional living room. Bright and patterned pillows pop against the navy blue sofa, and a plush rug anchors a comfortable conversation zone.
A simple and small bathroom becomes a spectacular space just by adding wallpaper that wows. Dark hardwood floors and white wainscoting feel traditional and grounded, allowing the patterned blue circles to play the starring role.
This comfortable living room features a reclaimed wood entertainment center and end table, stripes on the armchairs and diamonds on the rug. But a navy blue-and-white color scheme keeps the layering of textures and patterns in balance.
Clean white millwork stands out against the dark hardwood flooring, creating appealing contrast in this home's entry. A bold-striped area rug in white and blue add a pop of color to the space's neutral palette, while a brown carpet runner leads upstairs, softening the wood stairs.
This stunning modern living room includes leather sofas with duck and goose feather-filled headrests. Visual eye candy surrounds the space with sweeping views through the wall of windows and the custom wallpaper.
As seen on Home Town, Ben and Erin Napier have completely renovated the Johnikin residence in Laurel, Mississippi. In the living room, the highlighter yellow paint was replaced and the floors were refinished. New decorations and lighting make this room the main attraction.
Since white is easily influenced by any colors it's surrounded by, it's best to choose ultra-white tones that read as pure white. This color is lacking in both beige and brown undertones which makes it excellent for pairing with bold and dark colors like the patterned rug and green and blue bed linens. The white elements are highlighted in the natural light keeping the space very bright.
A colorful master bedroom includes a Hickory Chair bed upholstered in Schumacher fabric with purples, blues and greens. The patterned rug picks up some of the headboard hues in the room designed by Mitchell Hill.
