The guest bathroom features walls lined in blackened steel diamond plate, cement tile floors and a cement floating sink designed by Andrea Michaelson. The open shower creates a spacious feel. The contemporary design style with industrial modern touches carries throughout the home.
This bedroom demonstrates more of the openness of the loft with a blackened steel window wall that looks into the ensuite bathroom. Here, and throughout the home, original details like exposed brick, steel and wide plank wood floors are gracefully combined with contemporary furnishings.
A unique backsplash is always a favorite element in a kitchen -- and this diamond-shaped tile one fits the bill. Just above, a modern-feeling stainless steel range hood acts as a crown for the backsplash, bringing even more attention to the design element. Granite countertops coordinate and complement the walls.
This home's staircase combines both traditional and contemporary influences. The blackened steel and original concrete walls add an industrial flair to the area, while the staircase's glass and wood combination add a modern element to the space.
Half-inch steel plates and boards form work together as modern, sculptural retaining walls for a luxury touch on landscaping. The simple backdrop of the steel plate allows the decorative grasses to shine.
This spacious kitchen features wall-to-wall light gray traditional cabinetry paired with gray granite countertops. Light gray ceramic tiles are positioned in a diamond pattern to create a backsplash, while stainless steel appliances complete the look of the space.
During the renovation of a kitchen, dining, and living area, the team at Chioco Design incorporated strong, pared-down design elements, including a clerestory window above the wall of cabinets and a blackened steel vent hood. Instead of choosing bright colors for the space, or even an all-white palette, they used a selection of muted shades that keep the focus on the architecture. “The muted colors in this space offers a neutral palette for which form and light are the main contributors,” say the designers.
Smooth woodgrain cabinetry and island base showcase a beautiful, warm tone against the white walls and gray tile flooring. A skylight allows natural light to flood the space, keeping it bright and refreshing. Diamond-like pendant lights hang over the white countertop of the island and white leather bar chairs with stainless steel base and built-in foot rests. A turquoise backsplash adds a bright pop of color to the room.
Prior to the renovation, the fireplace brick was a plain, drab color. Kitchen Cousins Anthony Carrino and John Colaneri painted the brick and the mantel in bright white for a stronger visual impact. The firewood holder is a welded steel box with plates attached at the top and mid-point for structural support. An oversized wall clock is made from reclaimed wood, while a five-piece modular sectional sofa makes for a comfy spot to relax.
