If you think you can't paint a bedroom black or mix black walls with brown furniture, think again. As seen on HGTV's Deserving Design, host Vern Yip's black bedroom makeover delighted the Halloween-loving homeowners. He brought some light into the space with oversized lamps, lots of candlelight and reflective metal art above the headboard.
Layers and patterns in black and white define this dark, sophisticated bedroom. Black walls expand the room, blurring the visual edges of the space. Damask-patterned wallpaper provides visual interest while a large gray headboard and bed helps to break up the all-black walls. Mirrored nightstands and a large, dramatic black chandelier add glamor to this luxurious space.
A white paper lantern acts as a bedside lamp in this bedroom decorated in brown and black tones. A playful cowhide stool is a fun—and surprising—counterpart to the room's black, white and brown diamond-patterned wallpaper.
Whimsical white headboards pop against the dramatic pinstripe wallpaper. An antique trunk serves as the nightstand between both beds. Simple black and white bedding doesn't compete with the matching-toned wallpaper.
Textile designer, Khristian A. Howell, says, "Put your feet first. A dramatic and easy way to change things up in a room is by bringing in a great rug. Sheepskin rugs are so wonderful for the winter months. They feel wonderful under foot, and bring lots of warmth into the room, while keeping a light airy feeling."
This perfectly pink bedroom is outfitted with polka dot bedding, airy curtains and a personalized name plate above the bed. A black desk coordinates with the headboard and adds a level of sophistication to the room.
This eclectic creamy orange master bedroom, featured on the HGTV series Design on a Dime, is highlighted by striking exposed wood beams and black dresser and chest that contrast with the yellow walls. The master bedroom is in a Spanish revival style home and was made over to give it a vintage look and romantic appeal.
Beautiful black-and-white horse photography in simple black, matted frames makes up a sophisticated, symmetrical gallery wall. Thinly striped black wallpaper gives this bedroom dramatic, opulent flair. An antique hand-carved chair serves more as a piece of art on display than a place to sit.
