Although the home is newly built, the owners wanted it to have the charm and character of Southern homes from the 18th to early 20th centuries. To pull off that look, designers used six different types of casings and white painted millwork common to houses of that era.
Put a vintage bicycle on display inside or outside the home by wrapping the wheels, frame, handlebars and seat with lights. To keep necessary wires from interfering with the look, stick with black extension cords, which can wrap around black tires, minimizing their presence.
The mixture of fabrics in this space creates a unique look in this home. The leather chairs and ottomans add glamor to the space, while the velvet sofa softens the space, bringing in elegance. To bring personality to the space, a black and white rug connects the furniture, while a bicycle print hangs as the center of attention in the space.
Rich wood cabinets add warmth to the bright, white walls of this kitchen. Bicycle artwork adds a personal touch to the room and complements the red accents in the place mats, fondue pot and desk chair. The large island serves as an eating space as well as prep and cook area. The modern white barstools have long seats with a short backrest lip.
Local Knoxville, Tenn., artist Kelly Brown of Bower Bird Sculptures created an arch of bicycles, tricycles and bicycle parts at the entrance to the Outdoor Knoxville Adventure Center at Volunteer Landing.
The parents are avid bicycle riders, and they wanted their son's room to reflect their love. The bicycle ceiling fixture is painted a bold orange to match the colorful area rug, and a rope floor lamp is topped with a playful bicycle lamp shade. Light wood furniture is the perfect complement to the bold colors of the space.
So many cool things happening in this sophisticated entry: The custom art piece was made for the homeowner from his first beloved bicycle. A plaid rug and forest green sofa (with built-in planter!) bring in more intriguing pattern and color.
A colorful bicycle-inspired painting nods to the homeowners' love of cycling and sets the palette for their refreshing media room. What was once a basic, beige space is enlivened by orange-and-white trellis-print wallpaper, cabinetry and accessories.
