The neutral-hued kitchen of this Boston penthouse allows the view out its windows to play a major role in the decor. Simple ash brown pendant lights hang above the counter and sink areas, while the oak cabinetry features a gray wash finish that blend well with the selected flooring. White walls and countertops complete the contemporary design.
White bed linens give a crisp and polished look to this iron framed bed with light gray upholstered headboard. A delicate pastel floral pattern on the curtains encircles the bed for a feminine finish. An upholstered bench placed at the foot of the bed matches the ash gray tone of the headboard. A pair of neck roll pillows cushion the armrests.
To give a California ranch-style home a fresh, modern twist, designer Kristianne Watts used a mix of materials in the kitchen. “On the island we used reclaimed boat wood from Indonesia. With the original paint still on each plank, it brings an authentic feel to the space,” she says. “The raised bar is Portland cement, which can be broken and recycled. The countertops are a quartz from Silestone/Cosentino. The custom cabinetry on the perimeter is an environmentally friendly wood veneer, FSC-certified Shinnoki pre-finished wood panels in Midnight Ash.”
