This living room pairs together traditional white columns with modern touches, like a natural wood wall-to-wall bookshelf. A classic black piano sits atop a patchwork faux animal hide area rug, while two neutral sofas provide a comfortable place to relax. The open plan allows easy transition to the dining area.
Pink orchids, hot pink ringed napkins and rose colored wine glasses add a feminine yet bold pop of color to this contemporary dining room. Four chairs and one matching bench feature stainless steel backrests with neutral upholstered seat cushions. The glass table looks down to the silver support legs and animal hide black rug, giving attitude to the space in the open setting.
Opt for hide rugs in high-traffic areas, like foyers and hallways, because they can stand up to the hustle and bustle. “I love to use hide rugs in foyers and hallways. Since hides are natural animal skin, the material is incredibly durable and cleanable. Hides can be made into rugs in a variety of patterns that include checked, striped, chevron and even circular patterns. This striped hide rug was an ideal choice for this large, central hallway. We custom made it to size and only included white and gray colors which gives the rug some variety, but still allows it to have a neutral and soft effect, says Claire Paquin of Clean Design Partners.
Neutral colors keep this cozy room well decorated without feeling cramped. A fireplace surround provides beautiful texture with framing floating shelves for decorative display and storage. A zebra rug separates a leather tufted sofa and a pair of armchairs. The animal hide, rough brick, faux fur pillow and nailhead detailing add a pleasing mix of texture to the room.
