Using wood slats as a wall on the porch adds a modern texture and provides a natural surface for plants and vines to climb. Creating a natural privacy wall with potted plants is a simple, sleek addition to a front porch that can grow with the home over time.
An upholstered accent chair with high back, light linen fabric with gray piping, sloping rolled arms and turned wood legs provides distinctive living room seating. A blue patterned lumbar pillow adds color and comfort.
Since bedrooms are not usually as large as common areas, try to keep your holiday accent colors to a minimum. Avoiding overuse of color will keep the look from becoming overwhelming. The dining room was designed by Kelley herself. A wood bench was installed, neatly dividing the living and dining area. Upholstered cushions were placed to create a dining nook centered around a Saarinen-style table. The cushions add a colorful display to the dining area. Kelley upholstered them and the bench cushions in fabric from a collaboration between SUNO and KNOLL. The upholstery-grade pieces were inspired by traditional fabrics in Kenya, India and beyond.
