Hand-selected local art adds a layer of unique style within the space. "We put everything in the room and didn't have an accent color," says interior designer Linda Woodrum. "We found that piece and we thought it was perfectly soft."
Classic furnishings and architectural details are accented by the gorgeous abstract art above the mantel in the HGTV Dream Home 2015 master bedroom. “We have some wild art above the fireplace, so I think the only non-traditional thing in this room is the very hot-energy art,” says Linda.
This contemporary dining room uses abstract wall art as its main visual focus. The low-key gray walls and black dining table and chairs ensure that focus remains on the art, while a square-patterned area rug ties the room together.
Against the far wall, a glossy blue sideboard showcases family photographs and a few chinoiserie accents. Two pieces of abstract art hang directly above and pull the sitting room's various colors together.
Although the generously-sized bedroom can spatially accommodate a king size bed, a queen was chosen so as not to crowd the space visually. Taking inspiration from its colorful abstract art, the room received a new identity with shades of blue accented with fire-engine red.
Modern art is striking against these cool blue walls, but the furnishings in this conversation area are oriented toward the room's real focal point: the view. Broad sliding doors open this contemporary living room to the outdoor space beyond. Colors in the home reflect its natural, oceanside setting.
